How do you usually get to school? By bus? On foot? Roby Burch, 16, a US student, gets to school a little differently—he goes by horse .
Burch has been riding his white horse 4 miles to and from school since(自从)the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} of the semester. “Every morning, wearing my blue jacket and jeans, I'm on my way at 6 am. ” Burch says, “The streets are mostly {#blank#}2{#/blank#} at this time of morning. It's a nice way to start the day. ”
The idea was his {#blank#}3{#/blank#} . His family were {#blank#}4{#/blank#} their vacation on their farm this summer, “My dad just said, ‘Roby, you {#blank#}5{#/blank#} ride your horse to school every day. '” says Burch. He thought it really was a good idea.
When they got back home, Burch asked for permission from the headmaster (校长), Joe Cox, and surprisingly, he got the green light. Cox {#blank#}6{#/blank#} allowed（允许）Burch to keep the horse next to the headmaster's house. Then his dad helped Burch find the best route to school. It is along back streets and has {#blank#}7{#/blank#} cars than the others.
For the return trip every afternoon, Burch leaves school at 5:45 pm. Even now, as the days grow shorter and colder, he continues to ride his horse. “ I will ride my horse even in the coldest weather. ” he says.
Burch says the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} time he sat on a horse as a four-year-old boy he was afraid. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} now, “it's what I do best. ” It's no surprise that he wants to be a cowboy (牛仔) when he grows up. “I love riding horses more than {#blank#}10{#/blank#} else. ” He says, “It's really a guy thing. ”

    It is well {#blank#}1{#/blank#} that the English go out with an umbrella or a raincoat. Why? Because the weather in Britain{#blank#}2{#/blank#} often quickly. It is not very usual for the same kind of weather {#blank#}3{#/blank#} long.

    Spring can be{#blank#}4{#/blank#} or windy. The weather is getting {#blank#}5{#/blank#} and you can hope for more sunny days.

    In fact, there can be as {#blank#}6{#/blank#}sunshine in spring as in summer. Summer is the time for visitors to go to the seaside and other {#blank#}7{#/blank#}of interest. The weather can be sunny and nice. People often {#blank#}8{#/blank#}out to have a walk or swim. During fall it is still nice to be outside, too. Fall is a beautiful season {#blank#}9{#/blank#}trees in the woods and parks changing color. In winter, it gets colder. It might {#blank#}10{#/blank#}, especially on high land and in the north. There are also very high winds in this season.

A group of classmates got together to visit their old teacher. These classmates all had good jobs and made lots of money. They talked {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.The teacher asked them the difficulty they had had. Then their talk soon turned to talking about the stress (d压力) in work and life, The teacher went to {#blank#}2{#/blank#}kitchen and came back with a large pot of coffee and many{#blank#}3{#/blank#}—China ones, plastic ones and glass ones. Some are plain looking, some are expensive and some are lovely. The teacher told them to help{#blank#}4{#/blank#} to the coffee.

    When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the teacher said,“ Can you notice that all of you took nice-looking expensive cups, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones? You want only the{#blank#}5{#/blank#}for yourselves, and it is the source of your problems.”

    “What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup{#blank#}6{#/blank#} you went for the best cups and then began looking at each other's cups.”

    “Now{#blank#}7{#/blank#} about this; life is the coffee, and the jobs, money and position in society {#blank#}8{#/blank#}the cups. They are just tools to hold, and do not change the life. Sometimes, by caring only about the cups, we{#blank#}9{#/blank#} to enjoy the coffee.{#blank#}10{#/blank#} don't let the cups drive you, and enjoy the coffee instead.”

    A kind of little cars may some day take the place of today's big ones. People will like this kind of small cars more and more. The car is as small as a bike but can{#blank#}1{#/blank#}two people in it. Everybody can drive it, just like riding bike. Even children and old people can drive them to school and{#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

    If everyone drives such a car in the future, there will be less{#blank#}3{#/blank#}in the air. There will also{#blank#}4{#/blank#}more space for all the cars in cites, and the street will have more space for people to walk. Three such cars can fit in the space now needed for one car of the{#blank#}5{#/blank#}size.

    The little cars of the future will cost much less{#blank#}6{#/blank#}o own and to drive. And they can go only 65 kilometers an hour, so driving will be safer, too.

    The cars of the future will be fine for{#blank#}7{#/blank#}around a city, but they will not be useful, for a long trip.

    This kind of cars can save a lot of gasoline (汽油).They will go 450 kilometers{#blank#}8{#/blank#}needing to stop for more gasoline.

    If big cars are still used along with the small of{#blank#}9{#/blank#} two sets of roads will be needed in the future. Some roads will be needed for the big, faster cars and other roads will be needed for the small,{#blank#}10{#/blank#}cars.
