Once upon a time, a father and his son were walking from one town to another, While they {#blank#}1{#/blank#}, they happened to pass by a river. They were tired and stopped there {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Then the father asked his son to get him some water from the river.

    Then the son walked to the riverside and he {#blank#}3{#/blank#}some women washing clothes there. Right at that moment, a bullock cart(牛车) started crossing the river. As a result, the water became very dirty. “I mustn't take the dirty water to my father,” he thought. So he came back and said. “Look, Father. A bullock cart {#blank#}4{#/blank#}the river now, so the water is dirty and it can't be drunk.” Father said nothing.

    After a while, the son {#blank#}5{#/blank#}to get some water again by his father. The water was still dirty, but he didn't go back. He thought, “My father is so thirsty. I {#blank#}6{#/blank#}back clean water this time, even though it will take me a long time.” Then he sat there, waiting until the water was clean. He collected some in a bowl and took it back.

    “Oh, you are back at last, I {#blank#}7{#/blank#}for you for almost half an hour.” Father said. After {#blank#}8{#/blank#}the water, he looked up at his son and said, “Now, {#blank#}9{#/blank#}about what made the water clean. You let it be and the water became clean on its own. It is also the same with your mind. When it is disturbed(打扰), just let it be, and it will calm down on its own.”

    The son thought for a while and said, “Thank you, Father. I {#blank#}10{#/blank#}this forever.”

    We can make best decisions when we stay calm.

     Reader(《朗读者》)is one of the most {#blank#}1{#/blank#} TV shows. It {#blank#}2{#/blank#} different people to read aloud on the stage(舞台). The show also tells the moving stories behind those people. They can read everything, like {#blank#}3{#/blank#},books and letters. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} reading aloud, the words on the paper come to life.

     Many people are fans of the show. They begin to enjoy {#blank#}5{#/blank#} aloud at home. Now, the show gives people from across China a special place to read. It is a reading pavilion(朗读亭). They are in many cities, including Shanghai, Hangzhou and Xi'an.

     The pavilion is very small. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} one person can come into it each time. There is a microphone(麦克风)in it and it records people's voices. Everyone can read for three minutes in the pavilion. They can read anything they like. The show will {#blank#}7{#/blank#} some of the readers and invite {#blank#}8{#/blank#} to read on CCTV.

     People of all ages read in the pavilion. “Reading should be just like singing and talking.” {#blank#}9{#/blank#} Dong Qing last week, the host and producer(制作人)of the show. “We can express our {#blank#}10{#/blank#}feeling by reading aloud.”

    Everybody knows that it is dangerous to cross the street without looking both ways in China. However, I had a different experience in Berkeley, a beautiful city in California, US.

    I didn't know what to do when I had to cross the roads{#blank#}1{#/blank#}my first couple of days there：I wondered whether I should let the car go first or not？Based on my old experience back in China, I would certainly let the car go. "Who wants to be knocked down by a car？"I thought to{#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

    One day. I was checking for cars while I was waiting to go to the other side of the road. An SUV came fast toward me, so I stopped and{#blank#}3{#/blank#}. However, to my great surprise, the car stopped right in front of me. To be honest. I was a little confused because in China drivers usually try hard to drive as{#blank#}4{#/blank#}as possible to cross the road before people step out. Not knowing what to do for a moment, I saw no sign the car was going to move, so I offered a "signal" to let him go first.
