A man found the cocoon(茧) of a butterfly. One day a small o{#blank#}1{#/blank#}appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it s{#blank#}2{#/blank#}to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any p{#blank#}3{#/blank#}. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could, and it could go n{#blank#}4{#/blank#}further.

So the man decided to h{#blank#}5{#/blank#}the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and cut off the remaining bit of the cocoon.

The butterfly came out e{#blank#}6{#/blank#}. But it then had a swollen body and small, shriveled(皱缩)  w{#blank#}7{#/blank#}.

The man c{#blank#}8{#/blank#}to watch the butterfly because he'd expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge to be able to s{#blank#}9{#/blank#}the body, which would contract(缩小) in time. So he waited patiently.

N{#blank#}10{#/blank#}happened! In fact, the butterfly s{#blank#}11{#/blank#}the rest of its crawling(爬行) around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It was never able to f{#blank#}12{#/blank#}. What a shame!

The man, in his kindness and fast action, made a m{#blank#}13{#/blank#}. He did not understand that the suffering and the struggle r{#blank#}14{#/blank#}for the butterfly to get through the tiny hole were nature's way of f{#blank#}15{#/blank#}fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings s{#blank#}16{#/blank#}that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its f{#blank#}17{#/blank#}from the cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are e{#blank#}18{#/blank#}what we need in our lives. If nature allowed us to go through our lives w{#blank#}19{#/blank#}any difficulties, it would weaken or even disable us. We would not be as s{#blank#}20{#/blank#}as what we could have been. We could never fly!
