Monty was the son of a horse trainer. When he was in his ninth grade, he was asked to write a 1 about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up.

That night he wrote a seven-page paper saying that someday he'd 2 a horse ranch (牧场). He wrote about his dream in great detail and he 3 drew a picture of a 200-acre ranch with all the buildings.

 He put a great deal of his 4 into the project and the next day he handed it in to his teacher. Two days later he received his paper back. On the front page was a large red “F”5 a note that read, “See me after class.”

The boy went to see the teacher after class and asked, “Why did I receive an ‘F'?”

The teacher said, “This is an unrealistic (不现实的) dream for a young boy like you. Your family is not rich. Having a horse ranch needs a lot of 6 . You have to buy the land. You have to pay for other things. There is no7 you could ever do it.” Then the teacher added, “8 you rewrite this paper with a more realistic goal, I'll reconsider your grade.”

 The boy went home and thought about it long and hard. He asked his father what he should do. His father said, “Look, son, you have to make up your own mind on this. But I think it is a very important 9for you.”

Finally, after thinking about it for several days, the boy handed in the same paper, making10 changes at all. He said to the teacher, “You can keep the ‘F'and I'll keep my dream.”

    One traveler shared his story which happened on an African airline. The flight had been overbooked(超额预定).The flight staff picked the2 out by saying that all passengers with boarding cards run around the plane twice; the 3 getting the seats.

Unfortunately, his suitcase had gone to Los Angeles and wasn't able to be sent to him before the meeting. So he had to attend the meeting in a thick suit, a heavy overcoat and a fur hat.

    When the Spring Festival falls, red flowers bloom(盛开) on the windows of my home. Of course, these are not1flowers. But in the cold of2, these wonderful flowers bring warmth to us. They are made of paper by my3, who is now aged 70, with a few cuts, she   4a piece of paper into a beautiful work of art.

    One day, a farmer was walking along a road with his son Thomas when they saw a horseshoe on the ground. The father said to his son, "Look at the horseshoe on the ground. Go and1the horseshoe and put it in your bag, my son." But Thomas said, "If I do so, it will waste my time." His father said nothing but picked it up himself. When they2a nearby town, they had a rest. There the farmer sold the horseshoe and3some strawberries with the money.

    The father and the son went on walking. The sun was high up in the4. They soon drank up all their water and there was not a house or even a tree for them to have a rest. Thomas felt5thirsty to walk on. At that time, his father gave him a strawberry and he6ate it. After a while, his father gave him another strawberry and once again, his son got it quickly and put it in his mouth.

    And so they7walking. The old farmer gave strawberries and the son ate them. When Thomas had eaten up all the strawberries, his father said to him, "My dear son, if you picked up that8, you would have your own strawberries to eat.
