Sam (certain) didn't know that when he received it. It wasn't until after the war  he found out why.

After the war, he talked that with his father. After  (talk)for a while, Sam's father became sure that the pack once belonged to him.

It is natural that young people are often{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (comfort) when they are with their parents.

They say that their parents don't understand them. They often think that their parents are out of touch with modern ways,{#blank#}2{#/blank#}  they are too serious and too strict with their children, and that they seldom give their children a free hand.

Parents often find{#blank#}3{#/blank#} difficult to win their children's trust and they always forget how they themselves felt when young.

Young people like to act without much thinking. It is one of their ways to show that they have grown up and they can face any difficult situation. Adults worry{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (much) easily. Most of them plan things ahead.

Young people make their parents angry with their{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (choose) in clothes, in entertainment and in music. But they do not mean to cause any trouble: It just shows that they feel cut off{#blank#}6{#/blank#} the adult's world, andthey have not yet been accepted into their world. That's why young people want to make a new culture of{#blank#}7{#/blank#} own. And if their parents do not like their music or entertainment or clothes or their way of speech, this will make the young people very happy.

Sometimes youare so proud of yourself that you do not want your parents to say “yes” to what you do. All you want is{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (leave) alone and do what you like. It is natural enough, after{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (be)a child for so many years, when you were completely under your parents' control.

If you plan to control your life, you'd better win your parents. If your parents see that you have{#blank#}10{#/blank#} high sense of responsibility, they will give you the right to do what you want to do.

Tins of cooling ointment (清凉油) have become a currency for Chinese traveling in Egypt.

{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (visit)the complex of ancient temples at Karnak, Chinese tourist Mr. Ye lost his way among the stone churches and pillars.

An Egyptian guide gave him directions. To show his {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (appreciate), Mr. Ye handed him a small red tin the size of a large coin. Inside {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (be) a cooling ointment that has the function of refreshing mind and preventing pain. Mr. Ye brought 50 tins with him on his six-day tour to hand out as tips.

"Before I came to Egypt, the tourism agency told me {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (repeat) to bring cooling balm as a gift to make the trip {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (easy)," said Mr. Ye, a 25-year-old {#blank#}6{#/blank#} family sells Chinese medicine online. Egyptians, he said, are very nice to Chinese tourists, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} they love this little gift."

Egyptians sometimes demand the balm by running a thumb across their foreheads. Li Xiaodong, an Egyptologist at China's Northeast Normal University, believes Chinese travelers initially brought cooling balm for {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (person) use because it's very hot in Egypt, then {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (discover) Egyptians liked it.

Some Chinese tourists said giving gifts feels better than handing over money. "If you give essential balm, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} is more like you're giving it to friends," said one Chinese tourist.

China's educational and health authorities have banned convenience stores in all kindergartens, primary, middle and high schools across the country. The regulation took effect on April 1.

The campus convenience store is a place {#blank#}1{#/blank#}many students enjoy a snack and a chat. But it will soon become {#blank#}2{#/blank#}thing of the past. It requires that administrators (管理人员) should keep record of each meal and solve any food problems as soon as possible. Parents can also eat with students at school canteens and give{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(suggest) to the school on food safety and nutrition. The regulation raised heated debates.

Many students were sad about the ban. They said the campus life would be less interesting {#blank#}4{#/blank#}convenience stores, and they wouldn't be able to have different flavored drinks or desserts.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}, many parents expressed support for the regulation. The father surnamed Fang said, "cheap, low-quality snacks sold at these stores are{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(harm) to children's health, and students rush to shops to buy snacks as soon as a class is over, which affects the normal teaching order".

The move comes among food health concerns at public schools and{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(design)to meet the nutritional needs of students. The regulation also requires schools{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(monitor) students who may be obese, and intervene (干预) to make sure they follow a healthy diet. And in fact many foreign countries have their own ways to make students eat {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(healthy). For example, many parents in Australia volunteer in schools, sometimes in canteens, do their best to see that {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(they) children are served nutritious food. In Japan, there is "food and nutrition education". This helps children acquire "a sense of gratitude (感恩)" and "appreciate foods and social manners."
