I was doing my homework and my parents were watching me news when the phone rang．I had won a competition． The {#blank#}1{#/blank#}was a trip to Guadeloupe with a group! The next day，on my way home from school，I borrowed a(n) {#blank#}2{#/blank#} about Guadeloupe from the library and read it at night．

My flight(航班)to Guadeloupe from Dublin was too {#blank#}3{#/blank#} to catch a bus，so my dad drove me to the airport(机场)．When my group arrived in Pointe-a-Pitre，Guadeloupe's largest city, a taxi {#blank#}4{#/blank#}us to the hotel．It was raining and cloudy when we left Dublin but the sun was {#blank#}5{#/blank#}in Pointe-a-Pitre.

The others in the group were Spanish and German．French is the language of Guadeloupe but {#blank#}6{#/blank#}of us could speak it．{#blank#}7{#/blank#}for the next few days，we had language classes before lunch．After lunch，we {#blank#}8{#/blank#}different places in the city and in the evening we played cards．

Then we {#blank#}9{#/blank#}from our hotel in the city to a small island called Terre-de-Bas．For the next two weeks，I stayed {#blank#}10{#/blank#}the Dinart family in their house and I became another member of the family．I got on well with them and I really enjoyed my trip．

    In the United States, headmasters and teachers discipline(惩戒) students in several ways. The teacher often writes or {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the student's parents. Sometimes students have to stay at {#blank#}2{#/blank#}for an extra hour. If a student behaves {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, the headmaster can suspend (勒令…休学) the student. The student cannot come to school for one, two, or three days, Sometimes, when the headmaster suspends some students, they are {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. "A three-day vacation!" they thought.

    Mr Lazares, a headmaster, didn't like to suspend students. When the boy who was not behaving well in class was sent to his {#blank#}5{#/blank#}, Mr Lazares telephoned the boy's parents. "If you come to school with your son, I won't {#blank#}6{#/blank#} him having classes," he said. The boy's father came to school and went with his son to every {#blank#}7{#/blank#}. Other students stared at the boy and his father. The boy was embarrassed. After that, he behaved better.  He didn't want his father to come to school {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. Other students behaved better, too. They thought, "I don't want my {#blank#}9{#/blank#}to come to school!"

    That year, about 60 parents came to school with children who didn't behave well. The next year, {#blank#}10{#/blank#}parents had to come to school. The students were behaving better.

    One afternoon many years ago, I got out and had a walk in the park near my home. Later, I sat down on a bench and {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

    I watched a little boy, about 2 years old, running freely on the grass as his mother watched from a {#blank#}2{#/blank#} distance(距离). The boy would fall to the grass, get up and {#blank#}3{#/blank#} looking back at his mother, run as fast as he could as if nothing happened.

    When kids fall down, they don't think of the fall as a failure. But they think of it as a learning {#blank#}4{#/blank#}, they try and try until they succeed. Each time he got up, he looked so confident and natural. His only aim was to run as freely as he could.

    I learned a lot from the boy on that afternoon. I understand what kind of attitude I should have towards my future.

    Thanks to the development of technology in the past few years, people now can read news on the Internet quickly. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} holding a newspaper to read, some people prefer to get worldwide news on mobile phones, computers and so on. So, does it mean it is the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} of information technology and that newspapers will be replaced (取代) in the future?

    On the one hand, many people believe that newspapers will be replaced. Online news {#blank#}3{#/blank#} in a minute but newspapers can't. So, by taking advantage of technology, people can connect {#blank#}4{#/blank#} with the world in minutes. What's more, many people prefer to read electronic news {#blank#}5{#/blank#} they think it is not only fast but also cheap. Besides, using paper means cutting down trees. Reading online news can {#blank#}6{#/blank#} protect trees and save paper.

    On the other hand, some people believe that newspapers will still exist (存在) in the future. Firstly, not everyone likes to read online news since some of them think it is bad for {#blank#}7{#/blank#}. Secondly, the development, of high technology is not spread {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the world. The online services will only be {#blank#}9{#/blank#} in developed countries, but not in some other developing or poor countries. So, people there may still read newspapers.

    In short, although it is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} that electronic news has developed quickly in the past few years, newspapers still play a certain role in our modern life.
