Long long ago，there was a small village in the Middle East．In the village there was an old man{#blank#}1{#/blank#} Sam．He lived by himself．His only son had gone far away to study．Sam's friends {#blank#}2{#/blank#}whether his son would return，{#blank#}3{#/blank#}Sam always said，"Whatever happens，happens for good．"

    One day the old man's son returned and the villagers were very happy for Sam．He {#blank#}4{#/blank#}the villagers and said politely，"Whatever happens，happens for good．"However，later，Sam's son broke his {#blank#}5{#/blank#}Once again the villagers came to visit him and once again the old man thanked{#blank#}6{#/blank#}and said，"Whatever happens，happens for good．"Some of the villagers were {#blank#}7{#/blank#} to hear this．Why？What was good？His son's leg got badly hurt!

    After a few days，the army came to the village and forced all the young men to{#blank#}8{#/blank#}the army．When they found his son had a {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （break） leg，they left him behind．Once again，all the villagers came to congratulate him on his {#blank#}10{#/blank#} luck，like always，the old man was still thankful to them and said，"Whatever happens，happens for good．"

    John was a kind man. When he was young, he hoped {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(become) a singer. But he didn't have enough money {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (buy) books about music. And his parents didn't expect him {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (be) a singer. So his dream didn't come tree.     Last year, I did not like my English class. Every class was like a bad dream. The teacher spoke so quickly {#blank#}1{#/blank#} I didn't understand her most of the time. I was afraid to ask questions because I didn't know {#blank#}2{#/blank#}to pronounce words correctly. I just hid, behind my textbook and never said {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Then one day I watched an English movie called Toy Story. I {#blank#}4{#/blank#} in love with this exciting and funny movie! So I began to {#blank#}5{#/blank#} other English movies, too. Although I could not understand everything the characters said, their body language and the expressions on their faces helped me to get the meaning. I also realized I could get the meaning {#blank#}6{#/blank#}listening for just the key words. My pronunciation improved as well by listening to the conversations in English movies. I discovered that listening to something interesting is the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}to language learnning. I also learned useful {#blank#}8{#/blank#}like "It's a piece of cake" or "It serves you right". I did not understand these sentences at first. But because I wanted to understand the story, I looked {#blank#}9{#/blank#}up in a dictionary.

    Now I really enjoy my English class. I want to learn new words and more grammar so that I can have {#blank#}10{#/blank#}better understanding of English movies.

    Malala Yousafzai, 21, is a Pakistani youth activist. She is the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (young) person in the world ever to be named United Nations Messenger (信使) of Peace.
