Mr. White works in a factory. He liked1in bed when he was at school. It was bad for his eyes and now he is nearsighted(近视的). But he wouldn't want anybody else to2about it, so he never wears a pair of glasses. It often3him some trouble.

    One winter morning he went to a village school on business(出差) . He4a bus at a stop in a small town. Then he had to walk there. The road to the village wasn't smooth(平坦的) . There were stones(石头) here and there. He fell over(摔倒) several times and it made his clothes very5. At last he arrived at the village. Suddenly(突然) it began to blow strongly and it got much6. His hat was blown off while he was looking7the school. He had to run after it but he couldn't catch it. He was wondering why his hat ran into a house as if(好像) it had8. And then he ran into the house, too.

    A woman appeared and9 him. She shouted10him, "What are you following my hen for?”

    Boyan Slat has one huge goal. It's a goal that could be good for people and a {#blank#}1{#/blank#} all over the world. Amazingly, it looks like he's going to m {#blank#}2{#/blank#}his goal.

    When he was 16  Dutch engineering student Slat was on vacation in Greece, and he started to think about all the rubbish that is p{#blank#}3{#/blank#} onto beaches by water. The oceans around the world are all of plastic—millions of tons of plastic. Unfortunately, plastic doesn't just disappear. It takes c{#blank#}4{#/blank#} to break down (分解).

    The p{#blank#}5{#/blank#} situation of the oceans is bad and worrying and Slat wanted to do something to change it. So he made it a personal goal to clean up the rubbish in the world's oceans.

    Slat started with an idea for an unusual m{#blank#}6{#/blank#} to "catch" the plastic floating (漂浮) in the water using the natural energy of the ocean. He left school in 2013 to begin work on his project The Ocean Cleanup. Soon, the project r{#blank#}7{#/blank#} a lot of attention.

    A year later, he was leading a team of 100 scientists and engineers working on the invention. Slat needed money for this, so he started asking people to d{#blank#}8{#/blank#} to his project online and raised over $ 2 million!

    Soon after, Slat was named a "Champion of the Earth" by the United Nations for his meaningful and v{#blank#}9{#/blank#} work. It's the most important title the UN gives to people helping the environment. The Ocean Cleanup also won several awards (奖项) for having one of the best inventions of 2015. But the d{#blank#}10{#/blank#} goes on for Slat. He hopes that the oceans will be free of plastic in about twenty or thirty years.

Matt is thirteen years old. He is a student in a middle1 . He isn't 2 and always can't find his things.

Now he is ready(准备) to do 3 homework(家庭作业).

"We will have 4 English class next day. Now I want to do the English homework first."he says.

"Un oh," Matt says when(当...时)he looks in his 5 . His pencil is not there. " 6 is my pencil?" Matt asks. I need my pencil to do my 7 ."

Matt looks in his schoolbag. There is no pencil in 8 . Matt looks around his desk. He can't 9 his pencil. Matt looks at the sofa. He doesn't see his pencil, either(也)! So he 10 his mother for help.

"Mom, I 11 my pencil." Matt says.

Mom comes into his room 12 says, " Look over there!"

" What? My pencil 13 there." Matt says.

But when Matt looks in the mirror(镜子), his face turns red. His pencil is 14 his ear(耳朵).

What a careless(粗心的) 15 !

 One day, Sam found {#blank#}1{#/blank#} old, small box under his bed. He was cleaning his room when {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(he) hand touched something hard. Feeling curious (好奇的) , he picked it up and looked inside. The box {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(be) not empty with some dry {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(leaf) in it. 

 Sam asked his mom about it, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} his mom said, "I don' t know where it came from. " Sam wanted to find out more, so he decided {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(keep) looking around the house. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the first day, he looked under the sofa, but he only found some toys. The next day, he looked in the kitchen, but he didn't find anything. 

 Finally, the {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(three) day came, Sam found a small box on a shelf. It was even {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(small) than the first box. He opened it, and {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(find) a shiny coin inside. Sam was very happy to find this little treasure (珍贵之物) . 

 Billy always loved blueberries. They were his favorite fruit. Today he was going to make juice with his uncle. His uncle liked to make juice out of everything. He made carrot juice, apple juice, vegetable juice, and more juices. He had never made blueberry juice before though!

 First, Billy and his uncle went to a blueberry farm. They were each given a basket. They picked for an hour and got several pounds. It was hard work picking the little berries from the trees. Now Billy understood why they were expensive in the store. 

 Next, they had to wash the fruit. Some of them still had leaves. Those had to be pulled off. Then the bad berries had to be thrown away. They washed the berries and made them air-dry. 

 After that, they pushed the blueberries through a strainer (过滤器). The strainer caught most of the seeds and skins, and only left a small glass of dark purple juice to them. 

 When they tasted the juice, it wasn't very sweet. Billy's uncle didn't want to add white sugar (糖) to the juice. It was better to use a naturally sweet juice, like apple juice, pear juice, or grape juice. They use grape juice as a sweetener, because grapes had a similar color to the blueberries. 

 Finally, they could drink it. It was a lot of work to make juice, but it sure was refreshing!
