Once upon a time, there lived a rich man. He had a servant (仆人). He and the servant loved wine（酒）and good food very much. Each time the rich man left his home, the servant would drink the wine and eat up all the nice food in the house. The rich man knew what his servant did, but he had never caught his servant doing that.

      One morning, when he left home, he said to the servant, “Here are two bottles of poison (毒药) and some nice food in the house. You must take care of them.” With these words, he went out.

      But the servant knew that the rich man had said was untrue. After the rich man was away from his home, he enjoyed a nice meal. Because he drank too much, he was drunk and fell to the ground. When the rich man came back, he couldn't find his food and his wine. He became very angry. He woke the servant up. But the servant told his story very well. He said a cat had eaten up everything. He was afraid to be punished（惩罚）, so he drank the poison to kill himself.

On March 9, Kiska died（去世） at 47. She lived in a park in Canada for more than ten years. When she was three（冰岛水域） in 1979. Then they went to Canada. They lived there together for a few years. In 1985, Keiko went to Mexico. He even played a role in the movie Free Willy in 1993. After that, he went back to the ocean.

Kiska was not that lucky. She did not go anywhere. In her lifetime, she had five babies, but all of them died very young. This made her very sad. If whales live in the wild（野外）（水箱） went back to the United States in 2011. From then on, she was there on her own. 

About 4 years ago, a bill（议案） passed in Canada. The bill banned（禁止） the whole country from raising whales. But it was too late for Kiska. The bill could not protect her because she was already in  th tank.

Medflies (果蝇) are a big headache for farmers worldwide. They can lay their eggs in over 300 kinds of fruits and vegetables. The worst thing is that when they make their way into an area, it is hard to keep the products free of them.

Medflies lay eggs inside the poor fruits or vegetables. When the eggs break, they turn into worms that can seriously damage the products. The problem is that it can be hard to know that the flies are there until it's too late. The fruits and vegetables still look normal even after the eggs are laid inside. Once the damaged fruits and vegetables are sent to other places, the Medflies spread and reproduce at a surprisingly fast speed.

In the 1980s, three Medflies were found on a farm in California. To stop the problem from spreading, the local government set up a quarantine area (隔离区) where no fruits, nuts, or vegetables can be moved out. Meanwhile, it developed a program to keep Medflies under control. The plan involved using planes to spread millions of male Medflies out over the area. According to the scientists, these Medflies all have been treated with a special method to make sure that they can't help produce new Medflies. That means even though new eggs are laid, they will never grow.

Dropping millions of Medflies sounded like a bad idea, but to everyone's surprise, the program worked well. The government says the number of Medflies in California has shrunk by over 90%. Now we can fight Medflies with Medflies!

We all know that it is important to be honest, but who can honestly say that they've never told a lie(谎言)? Perhaps we comfort ourselves that most of the lies are "white lies". For example, someone cooks a terrible meal for us, but we lie and say that the food is"delicious". Or if a friend asks us what we think of his or her new haircut, we say"It's great!", even if we think it's awful. 

One of the main reasons that we tell a white lie is to try to make others feel better. However, when we lie and say that someone's haircut looks good, or when we say that we love a meal that we secretly don't like, are we really hoping to improve the situation for someone else?

Another reason for telling a white lie is to give encouragement. For example, when your friend asks you what you think of his or her singing, you say it's"wonderful", although you think it's not good. Perhaps your friend wants some frank opinions from you to improve. 

Finally, we may also tell a white lie when we want to protect others from bad news. If you have a bad day, do you tell your parents about it, or do you hide your tears and lie that your day is"fine"? When you tell a lie, don't you think your parents would want to listen to you and understand your feelings?

Perhaps the meal you said was"delicious" will be served every time you visit. Your friend may not trust your opinion again if he or she found out you had lied about his or her"wonderful" singing. Others couldn't truly understand you if you only share good news instead of bad news. 

A big test makes students feel fear and anxiety(焦虑). But taking tests is something faced by all students at all levels of schools. How do you prepare for the tests as well as reducing fear?{#blank#}1{#/blank#} Maybe they will be of use to you.

Calm down. Don't panic(恐慌). {#blank#}2{#/blank#}You will be focusing on the fear, and not the coming test. Many times, fear can even prevent you doing well. If you panic, take deep breaths, and think that you can do this.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}People who make a detailed study plan often have an easier time of their studies. When making a study plan, calculate(算) the amount of time you have left before the exam date. Is the exam in a month? Is it a mid-year exam that has been waiting since the start of the year? Depending on the time, make your study plan long or short. 
Take notes and ask questions. If you come across what you can't understand, write it down.
