Monkeys do not like it when others get more food  they do, according to a new study.

Researchers from Yale and Harvard universities found Capuchin monkeys punish monkeys  get more food. "This sort of, 'If I can't have it, no one can' response is because  psychological spite (怨恨), and it was (previous) thought unique to humans," said Kristin Leimgruber of Harvard University. She is a co-author of the research study. The researchers watched as some Capuchin monkeys  (give) more food than others. They found that monkeys getting the  (small) share pulled a rope to fold up a table holding the other monkey's bigger share.

Another lead researcher, Laurie Santas,  (explain) over email, "I think what we can conclude about humans is that some of our more embarrassing tendencies have relatively deep  (root)." Santos said the spiteful response was not present with another member of the ape species—chimpanzees(黑猩猩).

An earlier study, she said, showed chimpanzees would fold up the table of other chimpanzees  (steal) food from them. But they would not punish chimpanzees who just happened  (have) more food, Santos said. In other words, it was fine if another chimpanzee had more food as long as they did not steal it.

In much of Asia, especially the so-called “rice bowl” cultures of China, Japan, Singapore, Korea, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Vietnam, food is usually eaten with chopsticks.

Chopsticks are usually two long, thin pieces of wood or bamboo. They can also be made of plastic, animal bone or metal. Sometimes chopsticks are quite artistic. Truly elegant chopsticks might {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (make) of gold and silver with Chinese characters. Skilled workers also combine(使……结合)different kinds of hardwoods and metal {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (create) special designs.

The Chinese have used chopsticks for five thousand years. People probably cooked their food in large pots, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (use) twigs(树枝)to remove it. Over time, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the population grew, people began cutting food into small pieces so it would cook more quickly. Food in small pieces could be eaten easily with twigs which {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (gradual) turned into chopsticks.

Some people think that the great Chinese scholar Confucius, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} lived from roughly 551 to 479 B.C., influenced(影响)the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (develop) of chopsticks. Confucius believed knives would remind people of killing and {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (be) too violent for use at the table.

Chopsticks are not used everywhere in Asia. In India, for example, most people traditionally eat {#blank#}10{#/blank#} their hands.

China's industrial output is expected to rise by around 6.5 percent this year, marking the best {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (perform) since 2010, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the Made in China 2025 strategy (策略) helps to raise productivity and revenue (税收).

The increase is 0.5 percentage points {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (high) than the targeted growth, partly {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (drive) by strong efforts to increase the use of new technology at traditional enterprises (企业), Miao Wei said on Monday.

“The country's industrial economy has maintained steady and sound growth thanks {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the Made in China 2025 strategy. It promoted the combination of manufacturing and new technologies such as {#blank#}6{#/blank#} Internet, big data and cloud computing,” Mina added.

The ministry also predicted that the country's industrial output would be likely {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (grow) by around 6 percent next year, with revenue from the telecommunications, Internet, and software and information technology service {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (increase) by 50 percent, 30 percent and 13 percent, respectively.

According to Miao, the country will also publish policies {#blank#}9{#/blank#} promoting the development of digital economy. The data show that the country's digital economy added up to 22.58 trillion yuan last year, ranking second {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (global) and accounting for around 30 percent of national GDP.

UK Schools Ban Students From Using Slang (俚语)

Officials at Sheffield's Springs Academy has introduced a new policy to prevent students aged 11 to 18 {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (use) slangs and colloquial abbreviations (口语化的缩写) inside the school. Harris Academy Upper Norwood said it carried out the program to allow its students {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (express) themselves confidently and appropriately. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} we want to make sure of is that they are confident in using standard English. Slang doesn't really give the right impression of the person. Young people going to interviews for their first job need to make a good impression {#blank#}4{#/blank#}employers will have confidence in them.

Donna Bowater at the Telegraph writes that short forms of words {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (become) popular with the rise of text messages and the social networking website Twitter in the past few years.

"In addition to {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (give) students the teaching they need to succeed academically, we want them to develop the soft skills {#blank#}7{#/blank#} they will need to compete for jobs and university places," the school was quoted as saying in a statement by the BBC.

{#blank#}8{#/blank#} the above-mentioned support, South Yorkshire MP Angela Smith said that the policy might cause a risk to dialects (方言) and accents. Some critics argued that slangs provided students with an environment {#blank#}9{#/blank#} they could feel both the history and development of languages.

The widespread argument is making people wonder {#blank#}10{#/blank#} it is necessary to cut the use of slangs entirely or not. All in all, different opinions of the policy help us have a deeper understanding of the truth that language is always changing with the times.
