Just as I came back home. I heard a sound coming from the bedroom upstairs—it was from my favourite violin.

“Thief （小偷）！”

 I rushed upstairs and saw a boy in dirty clothes pulling my violin down. At first sight, I found a new pair of shoes missing. It seemed he was surely a thief.

However, when I saw his eyes full of fear, my anger disappeared. I smiled and asked, “Are you Mr. Ram's student Rubens? I'm his butler（男管家）. I've heard Mr. Ram say his student will come. It must be you.”

“Has my teacher gone out ?”the boy said, “I think I'd better visit him again in a while/”

 I nodded and asked him, “Do you like playing the violin?”

“Yes, but I'm too poor to afford one.” the boy replied.

“Then, I'll give you this violin." The boy looked at me surprisingly, but he picked up the violin. While going out of the room, he suddenly saw a huge photo of me playing the violin at the Grand Theatre of Sydney on the wall. His face turned pale. He stood there for a moment and ran out. He must have understood what had happened because no master（主人）would put up the butler's photo on the wall of his living room.

 A few years later, at a music competition in Melbourne, I was invited to be the judge （评委）. Finally, a violin player called Merritt won the first prize.

 After the prize-giving, Merritt ran to me holding a violin box, his face red, and asked, “Mr. Brian, do you still know me? You gave me the violin, which I have treasured ever since! Today, I want to say sorry and give back this violin to you without regret…”

 He was just the “Mr. Ram's student”!

    Edward Estlin Cummings (E. E. Cummings) was a poet famous for writing his poems with capital (大写的) letters in the words. He also used "i" instead of "I" to refer to himself in the poems.

    Edward was born on 14 October, 1894 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Young Edward's mother Rebecca loved to spend time with her children. She taught young Edward how to write poems. Edward's father was also named Edward. He was a great scholar (学者) and taught his son to learn by using his hands as well as his mind.

    Edward was a very smart boy. He was only 12 when he became a freshman in high school. He graduated (毕业) from Harvard in 1915. During World War Ⅰ, he joined the army and was sent to France. Edward and his friend from Harvard were caught because people thought they were sent by the German army. They were kept in one room. Their life was boring and full of fear. Edward therefore wrote his first book The Enormous Room and published it in 1922.

    Edward was a poet that made his own rules in poetry. He was one of the most popular poets of the 20th century.

    January is a great month. I only need to go to school from the first to the fifteenth. Every year, our school has an art festival. This year it is from January 13^th to January 15^th. All the students and parents can come to the festival. My mother says she can go to the festival with me, but my father can't. He is busy. All people can sing, dance and play games at the festival. After the festival, the term is over. I don't need to go to school and can have a long holiday. My parents and I want to take a trip in Sanya, Hainan. And we want to spend (度过) our Spring Festival(春节)there. We will come back to Beijing on February 15^th. I'm sure we'll enjoy it!

Known as "soft gold", Gambiered Canton gauze (香云纱) is the only silk fabric (织物) that's still hand-dyed (手染的) using natural plants in the world today.

The skill has a history of more than 500 years. In 2008, it was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage (国家非物质文化遗产). Ouyang Yongze is an inheritor of the dyeing skills from Guangdong. The man started learning the skills in 2017.

The dyeing process includes 30 steps. It can take up to six months and is done by hand with materials from nature. "The plant shuliang (薯莨), river mud, sunshine, and grass are all important in dyeing," Ouyang told China Daily.

To dye the fabric, workers put it in shuliang juice and let it dry on the grass. They repeat this many times until it turns brownish yellow. Then, they put river mud on it to help shuliang react fully. After washing and drying it again, the fabric turns black!

Mastering the skills is difficult, according to Ouyang, who put full effort into controlling the density (浓度) of shuliang juice. "Too much may cause color loss, and too little may nor lead to a dark enough fabric," he said. "Better control of the density comes after many failures."

Also, the job can be really tiring as workers have to be at work in the sun for 8 hours each day. Only a few people work in the industry, and skilled masters are getting older as fewer young people take part.

Considering this, Ouyang works harder to develop the traditional craft. He has got together other dyeing skills such as tie-dyeing (扎染法) and batik (蜡染) and has worked with famous fashion designers. They turn the silk into both traditional and fashionable clothes that are popular worldwide. He thinks this can help make the craft stay alive and drew people to the industry.

 Dana loves to read." If you' re reading, you can be in your world and do almost anything you want," she says.

 The Harry Potter books are her favorite. To Dana, all books have their own magic(魔力). She joined a book club at her school. One holiday, she did some research(调查) about books with her classmates. She learned that in richer places, each family had about 10 books. However, in poor places, there might be only one book for every 300 kids. Some kids never visited a library. She decided to change this.

 At the age of thirteen, Dana started a club called Reading Heart to share her love of reading. People donated(捐赠) books to her club. Then Dana and her friends gave them out to kids in schools, hospitals in poor places. In four years, they gave away nearly 400,000 books!

 After kids chose their books, they could keep the books. But when they finished reading, they shared them with a friend.

 Dana thinks that sharing books is like building small libraries for each kid. She enjoys helping others find the magic of reading.
