The meanings of colors play an important {#blank#}1{#/blank#}in our world. What a color pass to a person of the west, may be very {#blank#}2{#/blank#}to someone in the east. While a bride(新娘) may wear white to her wedding (婚礼) in Europe or America, a bride {#blank#}3{#/blank#}China may choose to wear a traditional red dress.

Here are some {#blank#}4{#/blank#}and what they represent (代表，象征) to various people of the world.

    RED

    In China red is a {#blank#}5{#/blank#}of luck and is used for many celebrations such as wedding and at the beginning of the New Year. In the United States red represents love and is used during Christmas and so on. Red is also represents {#blank#}6{#/blank#}and power in the west.

    BLUE

    People around the world think{#blank#}7{#/blank#}and the sky with the color blue. For this reason, blue is widely {#blank#}8{#/blank#}with peace and calm. But to the Cherokees (切罗基族人), blue meant trouble or failure. In the United States we have come to connect the color blue with sadness.

    GREEN

    In Paris, all garage collectors are clothed in green, drive green trucks and the bins are also green. In many parts of the world,{#blank#}9{#/blank#} has become a symbol of kindness and the earth.

    YELLOW

    Yellow is a color that symbolizes the sun. In the United States, school buses and taxis are often yellow{#blank#}10{#/blank#}they can catch the eyes. But to the Egyptians, yellow was a color of mourning (哀悼).

    Last night, when I was driving back home, I noticed a hitchhiker (搭便车的人) who was having no luck getting a ride. I rolled down my window and signed to the man to my car. I asked him where he was heading and he told me he needed a ride to his doctor's office which would close in 15 minutes. I told him to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} and he gratefully did so.

    As soon as he got in, he told me that he was a {#blank#}2{#/blank#} and went out to set for weeks at a time. He took medicine for his nerves and needed to get another prescription (处方) before he left on the boat. He said that he had prayed (祈祷) {#blank#}3{#/blank#} would stop for him so he could be there before the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} office closed. With some fast diving we managed to make it there in about 10 {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. I then asked him how he planned on getting back home and he said he could walk. "I'll patiently wait for you and bring you back," I told him. He {#blank#}6{#/blank#} me and said he should only be about 15 minutes.

    Afterwards he got back in my car and tried his hardest to pay me back: offering me dinner, gas money, even offering to ship me 40 lbs of scalps (海扇贝)! I {#blank#}7{#/blank#} refused, gave him a smile card and asked him to help someone else the nest time he had a {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. I drove him {#blank#}9{#/blank#} to where I had picked him up and after one more "thank you", he was on his way.

    I fell that the world always offers us {#blank#}10{#/blank#} we need. In the man's case it was ride, in mine the chance to help someone else.

    It was Sunday. The weather was very fine. The students of Class One {#blank#}1{#/blank#} for a picnic. They went by bus with fruit, vegetables, meat, cookers and some other things.

    At about half past ten, they {#blank#}2{#/blank#} at the foot of a hill. There was a big lake and many green trees. Birds were singing and the air was very clean. The students began to {#blank#}3{#/blank#} for the lunch. Some of the students were getting water from the lake. Some were washing vegetables and fruit. At about twelve o'clock the lunch was ready.

    The food was {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. After lunch, they had a great time singing, dancing, drinking and talking. At three o'clock they began to climb the hill. The hill was very tall, but they all tried to climb to the top(顶部) of it. On the top of the hill, they felt very excited.

After her second and third books were published, the three Harry Potter books filled the top three places on many lists of newspapers of the most popular books. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} any question, Rowling's life {#blank#}10{#/blank#} changed and she became one of the most famous women writers in the world.
