     Sixteen years ago, a boy gave me an important gift. It was a smile.

      It was the early autumn of my first year at a middle school, and my old school was far away. As a result, no one knew who I was. I was very lonely, and afraid to make friends with anyone.

     Every time I heard the other students talking and laughing, I felt my heart break. I couldn't talk with anyone about my problems.

Then one day, my classmates were talking happily with their friends, but I was sitting at my desk unhappily as usual.  At that moment, a boy entered the classroom. I didn't know who he was. He passed me and then turned back. He looked at me, with a smile.

    Suddenly, I felt the touch of something bright and friendly. It made me feel happy and warm. That smile changed my life. I started to talk with other students and made friends. Day by day, I became closer to everyone in my class. The boy with the lucky smile has become my best friend now.

    One day I asked him why he had smiled, but he couldn't remember doing so!

     It doesn't matter because all the dark days have gone. I believe that the world is what you think it is. If you think it is lonely, you might always be alone. So smile at the world and it will smile back.

    Joe was an old man. The 75-year-old lived very happily in a village and had a beautiful family. Joe had four grandchildren, and they visited him during their holidays.

During one vacation, Joe was preparing his home for the kids: cleaning and buying their favorite foods. After he finished working, he realized he lost his favorite watch. The watch was a gift from his wife when their first child was born. Joe loved the watch very much, especially after his wife's death. He was very upset about losing it.

    Once his grandchildren came, they promised him they would find the watch.

    One granddaughter asked: "Grandpa, do you remember when you saw the watch last before it went missing?"

    "I guess when I was cleaning the barn(谷仓)!" Joe replied.

    The children looked for more than two hours with Joe, but they could not find it. The kids were now also sad, but they tried to comfort(安慰) their grandfather.

    One grandson went back to the barn to search again. Joe asked why he was going there a second time. But the little boy just asked the others not to follow him and to remain silent.

    He was there for about fifteen minutes and then rushed to his grandfather. He found the watch and happily gave it to Joe.

    Joe was surprised and asked how he was able to find it. The little boy replied: "I sat there without making a noise, and the barn was so silent. After a few minutes, I heard the ‘tick, tick' sound and found the watch."

    Joe hugged and thanked the little boy.

    The boy's bike had broken wheels (车轮). Mick posted (发布) a picture on Facebook, asking his friends if they had the parts he needed. One friend saw the picture and gave away two used bikes. Mick took parts from each to build new wheels for the boy.

    Soon after, Mick repaired a bike for the boy's brother and one for his sister. During the year, he repaired lots of bikes for kids whose parents didn't have enough money for new ones.

    "People are throwing away (扔掉) bikes every day," said Mick.

    Mick puts the bikes and bike parts in his garage. "I take off the good wheels and use them," he said.

    Up to now, Mick has repaired hundreds of bikes and given away almost 700 newly repaired bikes. They're free, but the kids must agree to try their best to study in school.

    Mick also hopes the bikes will get kids off the sofa (沙发)" When I was growing up we all rode our bikes" he said' Hopefully these kids can get some exercise."

    One day, a man saw an old lady sitting inside her car at the side of the road. Though it was dark, he could sec she needed help. So he stopped his car and walked towards her .The old lady was worried, even though she noticed the smile on his face. Was he going to hurt her? "I'll help you start your car, madam, By the way, my name is Bryan Anderson," he said.

    While Anderson was fitting a spare tired(备胎) to her car, the lady began to talk to him. She thanked him much for coming to help.

    Anderson just smiled as he put his tools away. The lady asked how much she should pay him. He told her that if she really wanted to pay him back, the next time she saw someone who needed help, she could give them the help they needed. He waited until she started her car and drove off.

    A few miles down the road, the lady saw a small restaurant. She went in and a waitress came over with a sweet smile. The old lady noticed the waitress was nearly eight months pregnant(怀孕), but she never let the pains and aches change her smile when she served her..

    The lady finished her meal and paid with a hundred dollar bill. The waitress quickly went to pay me back, here is what you do- not let this chain(链子) of love end with you."

    Under the napkin were four more $100 bills.
