The Chongyang Festival is a {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (tradition) Chinese festival celebrated on the ninth day of the ninth month of the lunar calendar. According to legend, during the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220), a Taoist named Huan Jing saved his hometown {#blank#}2{#/blank#} a plague （瘟疫） by leading villagers up a high hill in Shangcai, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (wear) dogwood branches and drinking chrysanthemum wine to drive away evil {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (spirit). Since then, the tradition of celebrating the double ninth day {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (last) for more than 2,000 years. The star during the festival is the dogwood plant, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} grows in most parts of China. Many women and children wear its branches on their arms or decorate their hair with it. Additionally, people fill dogwood into sachets （香囊）, which come in various shapes and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (decorate) with lively patterns like birds and flowers. They stands for different meanings of luck.

The Chongyang Festival is not only a historical Chinese festival but also {#blank#}8{#/blank#} opportunity to show respect for the elderly. It encourages family reunions and helps to {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (strength) family bonds. Moreover, it shows the beauty of Chinese culture and allows people {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (connect) with their roots.

The Ocean of Stars，a symphony（交响乐） concert by Suzhou Symphony Orchestra，was staged at the Jinji Lake Concert Hall in Suzhou，Jiangsu Province，on July 15，2023. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} part of the ongoing Hua Xia Music Festival hosted by Suzhou Symphony Orchestra，the concert {#blank#}2{#/blank#} （ conduct） by Chen Xieyang，featuring famous pianist Wu Chun.Chinese music {#blank#}3{#/blank#} （ work），including The Ocean of Stars and Mulan Psalm，all by Chinese composer Guan Xia，were performed. 

The orchestra teamed up with Suzhou Silk Museum，presenting a modern show，which saw musicians of the orchestra wearing and showing {#blank#}4{#/blank#} （ tradition） Chinese silk clothes at the Jinji Lake Concert Hall.Started by conductor Chen，artistic director of the orchestra，the two-week Hua Xia Music Festival， {#blank#}5{#/blank#} was in the third year，aimed at {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （ promote）Chinese music works. 

Suzhou Symphony Orchestra also announced {#blank#}7{#/blank#} （ it） 2023-2024 season on July 15，which would close in July 2024.It was the orchestra's {#blank#}8{#/blank#} （eight） season，which gathered music artists with {#blank#}9{#/blank#} average age of 30 years old from around the world. 

The year 2023 marked the 65th anniversary of foreign relations between China and Algeria.It was the first time the orchestra {#blank#}10{#/blank#} （ perform） in Africa at the 13th International Classical Music Festival in Algiers，Algeria.

Traditional Chinese festivals always have {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (they)symbolic foods. The Dragon Boat Festival-or Duanwu Festival-features zongzi, or sticky rice dumplings. For the Dragon Boat Festival, which {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (fall)on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar, the core ideas are getting rid of diseases, avoiding disasters and {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (wish)for good health. 

Wen Yiduo, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} poet and academic, wrote that on the fifth day of the fifth month, people threw rice dumplings into the water and raced the dragon boats activities to express their fear of the dragon below and the hope that it will not make trouble in the {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (day)to come. 

The most {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (wide)known story of Duanwu Festival is that it was started {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (remember) Qu Yuan, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} committed suicide on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. People threw sticky rice dumplings into the river {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the dragon underwater would not eat his body. 

Eating rice dumplings {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (be)one shared custom. There are also traditions unique to other ethnicities. For Dai people in Yunnan, for example, Duanwu Festival is an annual opportunity to express admiration to others.
