It's a nice winter day. The sun is{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(照耀) brightly in the sky. The trees and flowers are covered with snow just like wearing a {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(银色的) coat. Everyone is happy because the Christmas{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(旺季) is coming in December, the{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(第十二) month of the year. They can't wait to go out to the street. They look at different{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(招牌) in front of the shops to find something they want. Children are running and singing on the street happily with colorful{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(旗子).

    However, an old man called David is unhappy. He is{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(加拿大的) and now he lives alone in US. Last year, he prepared and {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(摆放)some biscuits and candies on the table to welcome the children around here, but this year he is sick and he{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(认为) he can't continue to do that. To his surprise, the children make a{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(乐队) to celebrate the festival for him. David is so moved. Friends get together and sing songs happily. They do this for fun and bring spirit of Christmas to the people in the house.

    Among all the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC, it was the large-scale military parade (大规模阅兵) that caught the world's a{#blank#}1{#/blank#}. The parade was

    the b{#blank#}2{#/blank#}of its kind in recent decades(数十年).

    A mass pageant(群众游行)was held after the military parade, and it t{#blank#}3{#/blank#}  Tian'anmen Square into a sea of joy. A{#blank#}4{#/blank#} we all know, the theme of the parade was "Jointly (共同)building the Chinese Dream", which showed the world how China has made p{#blank#}5{#/blank#}  over the last 70 years. A total of 100,000 people and 70 floats(花车)joined the parade. It ended with 70,000 doves and 70,000 balloons f{#blank#}6{#/blank#} into the sky.

    In the evening, a grand gala(联欢活动)took place at Tian'anmen Square. O {#blank#}7{#/blank#} 60,000 people took part in the gala, including Party and State leaders and representatives(代表)from different fields. It began at 8 p.m. and lasted for about 90 m {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. All the fireworks formed the number 70 in the sky. Many ethnic folk songs(民族歌曲)were performed at the gala, showing that the 70th birthday of the PRC is a day s{#blank#}9{#/blank#} by Chinese people of all ethnic groups.

    Through united efforts(共同努力), China will s {#blank#}10{#/blank#} have an even brighter future.
