It is a rainy (阴雨的) day. A train stops at a small {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. A man is on the train and he feels hungry (饥饿的). He looks out of the window (窗) and sees a shop. A woman is {#blank#}2{#/blank#} cakes in the shop and the cakes look {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. The man wants to {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a cake, but the shop is a little (有点) {#blank#}5{#/blank#} from the train. The man doesn't want to walk in the rain. Then he sees a boy. The boy is about five {#blank#}6{#/blank#} old. He's playing near the window. “Come here, boy!” says the man, “Do you know how {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the cake is?” “One dollar for one.” says the boy. The man gives the boy two dollars and asks him to buy {#blank#}8{#/blank#} cakes. “One is for you and the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} is for me,” he says to the boy.

    After some time, the boy comes back. He's eating a cake. He {#blank#}10{#/blank#} the man one dollar. “Sorry, there is only one cake left (剩余). I eat the cake and here is one dollar back,” says the boy.

    There are 24 solar terms (节气) in China, and the Grain Rain(谷雨) is one of them. It falls on April 19 this year.

    This solar term is {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the Grain Rain because it is known for “rain” that helps the grain grow. From its name, we can guess it{#blank#}2{#/blank#}a time of more rain. So if you go out in the next two weeks, you may need to bring an umbrella with you.

    But this is a great time for{#blank#}3{#/blank#}crops. If you miss the time for planting during the Grain Rain, you will feel sorry later. So maybe you can try to plant some flowers or vegetables in your garden. When the spring rain falls,{#blank#}4{#/blank#} begin to grow crops (庄稼).     Chinese toon{#blank#}7{#/blank#}with eggs. The food made during the Grain Rain tastes wonderful and is good for your stomach. In the southern part of China, the tea leaves are picked during the time. They are called Grain Rain tea, which is famous for its freshness and sweet smell.

    A few years ago, a little boy, not more than eight years old, went to the store himself.

    While he was going {#blank#}1{#/blank#} home, a dirty dog followed him. The dog was weak because it had a sore leg. After he found the dog was badly {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, he let it follow him home.

    The little boy's mother taught him to be {#blank#}3{#/blank#} and friendly. However, when the little boy asked his mother {#blank#}4{#/blank#} he would let the dog come into the house or not, she hesitated (犹豫)."We have no room for it," said she.     His mother was actually kind, too. She did not drive the poor hungry dog away, but let it {#blank#}7{#/blank#} in the yard. The little boy gave the dog some {#blank#}8{#/blank#}, water and clean dry grass to lie on. They also made it clean.

    After a few days the dog was {#blank#}9{#/blank#} with the help of the boy and his mother. It began to show how happy and thankful it was. Because {#blank#}10{#/blank#} their kindness, the dog finally found a home. It did what a dog could do to be a helpful family member.
