Tony: What is the encyclopaedia?

Mary: It is a book having a lot of {#blank#}3{#/blank#} you want to know.

Tony: It is so{#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Where did you find it?

Mary: From our school library. There are different encyclopaedias. 

Tony: Can I {#blank#}5{#/blank#} what I like?

Mary: Of course.

    Thanksgiving is an American festival. It is celebrated on the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Thursday in November. It is a time for a special dinner among family and friends. People make short {#blank#}2{#/blank#} and give thanks for their food.

    We have celebrated the festival since the first pioneers (先驱者) arrived in America in the 17th century. While they were {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the Atlantic (大西洋), many people died, and after they landed, their first winter was {#blank#}4{#/blank#}than any English winter. The local people taught the pioneers how to grow corn. The next year they celebrated together by {#blank#}5{#/blank#} a dinner of the new food.

    We still celebrate Thanksgiving today with a {#blank#}6{#/blank#} dinner. The main dish of this dinner is almost always turkey. We all help to {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the food. We lay the table, and then before we begin dinner, my father gives thanks for the food. We often talk a lot and tell stories after dinner as well.

    During the festival, there are lots of {#blank#}8{#/blank#} things to see and do. We live in New York, and we go to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (游行). Thanksgiving is the start of the Christmas season, and we start shopping for {#blank#}9{#/blank#}. Football is also important at Thanksgiving. Like many Americans, we usually watch the games on television and enjoy {#blank#}10{#/blank#} very much.

    A wife came to see her husband and gave him a suggestion, "I read in an article on{#blank#}1{#/blank#}to make our marriage(婚姻)stronger. I want each of us{#blank#}2{#/blank#}a list of things that make each other annoyed. Then, we can talk about how we can fix them together and make our lives{#blank#}3{#/blank#}than ever together. "

    The husband agreed. So each of them went into a different room in the house and{#blank#}4{#/blank#}the things that really made the other angry. They thought and thought the questions for the rest of the day and wrote down what they{#blank#}5{#/blank#}.

    The next morning, at breakfast, the wife started. She took out her list. There were many points on it, enough to fill three{#blank#}6{#/blank#} . In fact, as she started reading the list, she noticed that tears(泪水)were starting to appear in her husband's eyes.

    The wife continued to read the list until she finished{#blank#}7{#/blank#}all the points on the paper to her husband. Then she placed her list on the table and put her hands over the top of it.

    It's time for her husband to read his list. But quietly the husband said, "I don't have anything on my list. I think you are perfect. I don't want you to change{#blank#}8{#/blank#}about you. "

    The woman was moved{#blank#}9{#/blank#}her husband's words and began to cry.

    In life, whenever we are disappointed, angry or sad, we shouldn't lose heart because we always have wonderful time that it is full of beauty, light and happiness. Why do we waste time{#blank#}10{#/blank#}the bad, disappointing things? Why not enjoy the wonderful things around us?
