Carla is a student in Grade 7．She is good at English because she works hard at it and often{#blank#}1{#/blank#}to English tapes at home．There are{#blank#}2{#/blank#}of new words to remember．She writes them again and again．When she sees things on the street．she'd like to say them in English．Sometimes she looks{#blank#}3{#/blank#}，but it's a good way to learn new words．

    Carla thinks it's important to get school things{#blank#}4{#/blank#}．She seldom leaves them at home．But now,she is looking{#blank#}5{#/blank#}her mobile phone．

    Next time you're in a public place, take a look around you. And {#blank#}1{#/blank#} how many people are using their phones. I can tell you now that it is probably more than half, whether you're on a bus, in a car 6 {#blank#}2{#/blank#}  simply walking down the street.

    I'm not saying that I am not an example of this, but it. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} mazes (使惊愕) me how people can spend so much time on their phones without {#blank#}4{#/blank#} to others. Has it gone too far?

     Recently, my smart phone broke and had to be  {#blank#}5{#/blank#} off for repair for a week or so. I had to use a really old, basic phone just to keep me in touch with my family and {#blank#}6{#/blank#}. All I could do on this phone was to send text messages, make calls and play one game. And I loved it. I loved being {#blank#}7{#/blank#} from the Internet, and I really didn't mind not having updates (更新) about what my friends were doing. It allowed {#blank#}8{#/blank#} to spend more time enjoying my time in London and watching the people {#blank#}9{#/blank#}  me and really see what was going on.

     However, I knew that as soon as I got my smart phone back I would be one of those {#blank#}10{#/blank#} once again. Perhaps I should just go back to using the basic phone and forget I ever got my smart phone back.

    Life in the future will be {#blank#}1{#/blank#} from life today. Between then and now many changes will happen. But what will the changes be?

    The population is growing fast. There will be many people in the world and most of them will live longer than people live now.

    Computers will be much {#blank#}2{#/blank#} and more useful，and there will be at least one in every home. And computer studies will be one of the important {#blank#}3{#/blank#} in schools then. People will work fewer hours {#blank#}4{#/blank#} they do now and they will have more free time for sports，watching TV and traveling. Traveling will be much cheaper and {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. And many more people will go to other countries for {#blank#}6{#/blank#}.

    There will be changes in our food，too. More land will be used for building new towns and houses for all the people. Then there will be less room for cows and sheep，so {#blank#}7{#/blank#} will be more expensive. Maybe no one will eat it every day. Instead，they will eat more fruits and {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. Maybe people will be healthier. Work in the future will be different，too. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} will do dangerous and hard work. Because of this，many people will not have enough work to do. This will be a {#blank#}10{#/blank#}.
