Football is, I suppose, the most popular game in England. Rich and{#blank#}1{#/blank#} , young and old, you can see them all there, shouting and{#blank#}2{#/blank#} for one side or the other.
        You may be surprised to find that even the smallest boy seems to have the great{#blank#}3{#/blank#} of the game. He can tell you the names of the players in most of the important teams. He has{#blank#}4{#/blank#} of them and knows the results of many matches. He will tell you who he expects will{#blank#}5{#/blank#} such and such a match, and his opinion is usually as valuable as that of men three or four times his age.
     In England, it is{#blank#}6{#/blank#} that education means not only filling a boy's mind with facts in a classroom but also training character. One of the{#blank#}7{#/blank#} ways of training character is by playing games,{#blank#}8{#/blank#} team games, where the boy has to learn to work with others for his team, instead of working{#blank#}9{#/blank#} himself alone.
    Football is good exercise for the{#blank#}10{#/blank#} , it is a team game, it needs skill and a quick brain. So the school often arranges games and matches for its pupils.

    Every day standing at my information desk, I have to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} lots of questions of the visitors coming from all over the world. People may ask {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the strange things sometimes, I'm often {#blank#}3{#/blank#} at the different questions that people ask.

    I am {#blank#}4{#/blank#} to give information about bus and subway routes(路线) in the city. Of course, visitors always have questions about the best ways of {#blank#}5{#/blank#} to some interesting places. But quite often people are interested to know about museums, hospitals or {#blank#}6{#/blank#} . Once a man wants me {#blank#}7{#/blank#} care of his dog, and another {#blank#}8{#/blank#} a woman asked me to watch her seven {#blank#}9{#/blank#}!

    I love my job though I am always {#blank#}10{#/blank#} busy.

Dear Dennis,

    We just want to say thank you for having us before we caught the plane last week. It was a nice evening, and we enjoyed {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Pete and Sarah. With your help we were able to get to the airport with plenty of time. We often tried to get an {#blank#}2{#/blank#} flight than usual, but it wasn't possible.

    We had {#blank#}3{#/blank#} holiday in Spain. We just loved driving {#blank#}4{#/blank#} the countryside, and we often {#blank#}5{#/blank#} to walk round a mountain village. We met {#blank#}6{#/blank#} friends, Bill and Sue, and they invited us to have a meal with them. They wanted us to stay with them, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} we couldn't, as we had already booked two {#blank#}8{#/blank#} in a hotel.

    The weather was nice. There {#blank#}9{#/blank#} so much beautiful sunshine all the time we were there. Leaving Spain was very sad. It made me want to cry.

My First day at college

    I remember my first day at college. I {#blank#}1{#/blank#} at 8:30 and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} lessons at 9:00. We {#blank#}3{#/blank#} from 9:00 to 11:00. The teachers {#blank#}4{#/blank#}to us a lot! Then we{#blank#}5{#/blank#}basketball for an hour. At noon we {#blank#}6{#/blank#} lunch at the canteen (食堂). In the afternoon we continued (继续) the lessons and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} to the teacher carefully. Then at 4:30 the lessons {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. It was a long and tiring day!

    "Oh, poor{#blank#}1{#/blank#}tree!" a bird said," You shouldn't have asked the man to cut down the trees. The tall trees protected you{#blank#}2{#/blank#}you didn't worry about heat or wind and rain. Time went by and you have{#blank#}3{#/blank#}. When you get tall and strong, you can have enough strength to fight against the Sun and the storms. So I don't think you should do that."

    After{#blank#}4{#/blank#}the words of the bird, the little tree felt regretful(后悔的).
