George was a quiet, serious young man. He had been studying very hard for one year, and when he passed all his exams, his friend Jim went to give him his congratulations and then had an earnest talk with him.

  “You've never been to a dance, George.” he said. “It's boring always studying and never enjoying oneself. Come out with me this evening.”

  “Maybe you're right, Jim,” replied George after a moment of hesitation.

    So they went to a dance and had a very good time. But George drank more than he was used to, and by midnight Jim became worried about him, so he said, “now we'll walk home in the cool air.”

    On their way home, they came to a bridge. George looked down at the river below very carefully, the stars were reflected on its surface.

  “What are those lights down there?” George asked.

  “They're the stars, George,” Jim answered.

  “The stars?” George said. “Well, then, they should be above in the sky. How did I get so high up here? They are now at my foot!”

    I'm Lucy. There are four people in my family. They are my grandfather, my parents and me. My grandfather likes to plant flowers. He works on his farm every morning. My father likes to watch TV. He likes to watch the news very much. My mother likes to go shopping. She often buys new clothes for us. I like to read books. I go to the library on Sundays.

    Next week is a holiday. I will do my homework on Monday. On Tuesday I will fly kites with my friends. On Wednesday I will play table tennis. On Thursday I will read storybooks(故事书). On Friday I will help my mother do the housework. On Saturday I will visit my grandma with my parents. On Sunday，oh，I don't know what to do.

    Mr. Brown has a son and a daughter. They live near the mountain. They are very poor. They have got little money. They buy some seeds. They plant rice, beans, cabbage and carrots in the fields. They water their plants. Their plants grow well. They are very happy.

    Some big birds come. They eat the beans. They eat the rice. They eat the cabbage and the carrots. Mr. Brown is not happy. He drives the birds away. He puts a nest on the ground. He catches some birds. The birds are afraid now. They don't want to eat Mr. Brown's fields now.

In autumn, Mr. Brown has a lot of rice, beans, cabbage and carrots. He's happy again. The Browns aren't poor now.
