Do you know this story? {#blank#}1{#/blank#}July 11 of every year, a local office of Project Hope receives a donation from a person{#blank#}2{#/blank#}  Xu Qin. But investigation (调查) shows that Xu Qin died in1994.
   Xu Qin was Liu Wenzhen's youngest daughter. She died in a traffic accident on July 11, 1994. Ever since, Liu Wenzhen has been in the habit of making a donation {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Project Hope on that date to commemorate (纪念) her daughter's death. 
   What has Mrs Liu done is simply helping to{#blank#}4{#/blank#}her daughter's dream. “I have always dreamed{#blank#}5{#/blank#}  becoming a teacher in the countryside because that is{#blank#}6{#/blank#}  my father lived,” Xu Qin once said.
   Project Hope is built to {#blank#}7{#/blank#}children to be able to go to school. Many people make a commitment to the project all over the world. In China the project began in 1985.
   As a student, we can also do {#blank#}8{#/blank#}to support this project. We may save our money and donate it to Project Hope. Maybe we can teach those children{#blank#}9{#/blank#}  can't go to school some day. We can also {#blank#}10{#/blank#} others to do something for the project.

    There once was a man who played the piano in a bar. He was a good pianist People went there just to hear him play.But one night,a customer{#blank#}1{#/blank#}told him he didn't want to hear him just play any more.He was{#blank#}2{#/blank#}to sing a song by the customer.

    “I don't sing,”the man said.The customer said to the boss;“I'm{#blank#}3{#/blank#}of just listening to the piano .I want that guy to sing!”

    “Hey,buddy!”the boss {#blank#}4{#/blank#}across the room.“If you want to get paid,sing a song!The customer is asking you to sing!” And the other customers were {#blank#}5{#/blank#}to see what would happen.

    So he did.He sang a song.A{#blank#}6{#/blank#}who never sang in public did so for the very first time. What's more,Nat King Cloe sang the song,Mona Lisa,in a very special way.That was the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}time the song ever sounded that.

    He was so talented!He could have lived the rest of his life as a no-name piano player in a no-name bar.But because that man made {#blank#}8{#/blank#}sing,he went on to become one of the best-known {#blank#}9{#/blank#}in America.

Students go hungry for charity（慈善）

    Students at New Point School enjoyed their breakfast today, for it broke a 24-hour fast（禁食） for charity. During the fast, they could not eat any food {#blank#}1{#/blank#},and they could only drink water, tea and clear fruit juice. The students all volunteered to go without food for one day to raise money for UN projects to help the poor {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

Mr. James Wood, their English teacher, said, “The students {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the idea themselves after seeing photos of hungry children. They organized the whole thing. I'm very proud of them.”

    “Twenty-four hours did not feel like a very long time. Next year, I might even double {#blank#}4{#/blank#} I spend fasting. Then I can raise twice as much money!” said Jane Austin, a student. “It's so wrong for us to have lots of food while many people in the world are going hungry. We need to give to those in need.”

    The students collected about $2 400 from the fast. They were {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the total amount. “It's amazing! People are so kind, and they want to help others,” said Alan Long, another student.

    I'm the only girl on a baseball team. You might think it is terrible but really it's fun. I love playing baseball. All of my {#blank#}1{#/blank#}are like family to me. We all support (支持) each other. For example, when I pick up my bat and get ready to hit during a big game, sometimes I get {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. But my teammates will pat (轻拍) me on the back and call my name. They call me "Big Mama". When I hear their voices, I feel confident. They're my friends, even if they are {#blank#}3{#/blank#} boys.

    I've been playing baseball for six years. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} coach is also my dad. We practise every day at the park near our house. My dad is strict and{#blank#}5{#/blank#} us to do our best.

    I take advice he gives me and bring it to my game. Last year, my team {#blank#}6{#/blank#} a championship (锦标). But it's not always {#blank#}7{#/blank#} winning. He also tells us to just smile and have fun. We love to get ice cream after practice. Every year, baseball brings me and my dad{#blank#}8{#/blank#}.

    Some people say girls can't play baseball. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} that doesn't get me mad. Instead, it makes me play harder. I want to be known for being a good {#blank#}10{#/blank#} , not just for being the girl. If you're a girl who wants to play baseball, I say go for it!

Money-saving Tips for Students

    First there were CDs, then we had MP3 music and now we have ringtones(铃声)! People use their mobile phones to play music. You can listen to the radio on your mobile phone, download music onto it and use it like a MP3 player. Some pop groups find that {#blank#}1{#/blank#} people listen to their songs on their mobile phones than they do on CDs.

    So many people have mobile phones that {#blank#}2{#/blank#}you don't know when your phone rings. Ringtones are often {#blank#}3{#/blank#}to tell you it's your phone. Companies sell them to you and they are downloaded on your phone.

    At first, there were just different rings. They were like a normal telephone. Then people made them sound like a piece of music. Now you can get all kinds of sounds {#blank#}4{#/blank#}every pop song can be played on your mobile phone. You can also get animal sounds there-are elephants, cats, clogs, lions and lots of strange bird sounds, too.

    You can make your {#blank#}5{#/blank#} music. You need special software to do it. There are also karaoke ringtones. Your {#blank#}6{#/blank#}is recorded with some music and you hear it when someone calls.

    Now you can have a different sound for every person you know. Your {#blank#}7{#/blank#} book is used to find out who is calling Then it {#blank#}8{#/blank#}a different song for each person. If your best friend likes a special song, he can hear it, too!

You have to be {#blank#}9{#/blank#}with the song you choose, though. Some songs can cause trouble. If your family call you, they don't want to hear a noisy pop song with {#blank#}10{#/blank#}words! You should choose something that sounds nice. Some sounds are very noisy and fast, which make people angry. Ringtones are fun, but they should not make people angry at you!
