The mobile phone is a useful thing, but maybe I don't know {#blank#}1{#/blank#} to use it. Sometimes it makes things difficult for me.

    One day I wanted to see my friend nearby. I could {#blank#}2{#/blank#}athis house in five minutes, but I thought it would be better to{#blank#}3{#/blank#}him up. I rang him for the first time, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} the line was busy.

    Five minutes later, there was an answer, but it was the wrongnumber. Then I tried {#blank#}5{#/blank#} and this time I got an answer from him. I  {#blank#}6{#/blank#} him if he was at home in the afternoon. And he said he would be at home all afternoon. So I went to his house, but then I found {#blank#}7{#/blank#} in. I called him for the fourth time. This time I got   {#blank#}8{#/blank#}angry that I said, “You are not at home? But you just told me over the telephone that you would be at home all afternoon!”

    Here was his {#blank#}9{#/blank#}, “No, I said: I will NOT be at home all afternoon.”

    I went back to my room. What{#blank#}10{#/blank#}could I do? Nothing!

    In the morning, we went camping along a path in Green Natural Park. We were happy {#blank#}1{#/blank#}it was a sunny day. We were expecting an {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(enjoy) two-day holiday. On the way, we kept {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(sing) and making jokes.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}, in the afternoon, when we finished our picnic at one o'clock, it was dark and windy. Soon, there was a shower. Unluckily, none of us brought an umbrella. We ran about but we could find no place to hide in.

    Twenty minutes passed and it was still {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(rain). There were hours to go before we could reach the campsite(野营地).It was even {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(bad) that our small compass showed that we went the wrong way. We had lost our way!

    We had to make a quick {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (decide) as it was raining heavily. Chris said we could set up a tent to hide {#blank#}8{#/blank#}, so Mary and Tom helped to set up the tent. Chris and I tried to make a fire to keep us warm. But we were {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (able) to light the fire, as everything was wet. We dried ourselves, chatted and waited inside the tent. At about five o' clock, it stopped raining. We decided to give up the camping trip because all of us had been very tired.

    This camping trip may not be very successful but we know each other better. And the most important thing I {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (learn) from this trip is the importance of team spirit.

    Joesph is a teacher in New York. He gives lessons to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (he) students about American history. But he was born {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Kenya, an African country where the children lead a very different life. For example, a ten-year old boy may spend {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (much) time in taking care of cows than studying at school. The children also learn many {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (skill) like how to live in the wild.

    Unlike many other children, Joesph went to school. And {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (lucky), when he was 15, he came {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (study) in America and then became a teacher. Joesph has written {#blank#}7{#/blank#} book called Facing the Lion. In the book, he talks about his childhood. He thinks {#blank#}8{#/blank#} is very important for American children to learn about the cultural differences between their country {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the others. He also thinks children should learn to be strong and full of hope, Now Joesph {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (do) a proiect, hoping that it will help children face their own "lions".
