A CCTV journalist succeeded in arousing a heated discussion among netizens by asking people whether they were happy. The responses to the question were various, even some quite funny ones (include). Although people played jokes  the answers, it did not take long  they began to figure out the true meanings of happiness.

It is certain that people's views on happiness (affect) greatly by their own life experience. Unfortunately, too many people refer to being rich as happiness and there is no sign of  decrease in the number of those who are voluntarily at the mercy of wealth. Some people whose (intend) is to make big money appreciate (be) given any chance to multiply their income, believing that is  their happiness lies. Some are eager to inherit their parents' property, especially those who are known as silver-spoon kids. Even worse, some would rather break the law to satisfy their financial desire or seek their fortune (legally).

In my opinion, happiness is not about pursuing wealth merely but about admiring the beautiful things in life. Therefore, live your life  the fullest and be happy.

Honesty is a virtue, and telling a lie is morally wrong. But how can you know if someone is {#blank#}1{#/blank#}? The answer is, they're probably not. Traditional economics says that people are rational beings who will lie if it is {#blank#}2{#/blank#} their advantage. A recent university study has shown that, actually, we're pretty honest ―especially {#blank#}3{#/blank#} we're at home.

Researchers in Germany phoned people at home and asked them to toss a coin. There was a strong financial incentive (激励) to fake the result: if the coin landed tails-up, the participant would receive money or a gift voucher, while if the coin landed heads-up, they would get {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Because they were on the phone, they knew there was no {#blank#}5{#/blank#} of getting caught if they lied. And yet people revealed the truth despite that they {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (receive) nothing. Over hundreds of tosses a coin will land tails-up roughly 50% of the time. In this study over half the people (55.6%) asked said that the coin landed heads-up. Most of them didn't pursue the reward at the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} of honesty.

Previous studies had found that people were more dishonest. In those laboratory studies 75% of people, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (include) some who faked the results, reported a winning coin and claimed a reward. So the research team guesses it's being in our own home {#blank#}9{#/blank#} makes us play fair. {#blank#}10{#/blank#}, what motivates people to do so remains unclear.

It is not a secret {#blank#}1{#/blank#} trees are vital to our life. They provide us with food, wood and most {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (important), oxygen. Now there is one more thing we can add to this list—blocking out harmful bacteria from water.

The discovery {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (make) by a team {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (consist) of scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and high school students {#blank#}5{#/blank#} were seeking a natural water filter(过滤)—one that would help communities in developing countries that do not have {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (accessible) to modern water filter systems.

The {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (research), led by Professor Rohit Karnik, decided to turn{#blank#}8{#/blank#} trees for help, because they could allow liquid to flow through, while blocking out air bubbles.

They began by cutting 1.5-inch-wide sections of tree bark from the branches of a white pine tree. The people related then tested the wood's filtering ability by pouring water containing red dye particles of different sizes through. To their {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (amaze), they found that it was effective in trapping all the particles. Greatly {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (encourage), the team conducted another experiment, this time with water that contained bacteria. Sure enough, the sapwood held back 99% of the bacteria, allowing only 1% to flow through.
