On Sunday, Lucy and I go to a bookshop, then we want to go to the supermarket. But we don't know the way how to get to the bookshop. We ask the policeman in the street for help. He tells us to walk along Renmin Road, and turn right at the second crossing. Then we walk and walk but we don't see the bookshop. We are too tired so we take a taxi. “Please take us to the bookshop.” We tell the taxi driver. The taxi driver laughs and says, “The bookshop is over there, you may get off now.”

    The Chinese New Year is a very important holiday for the Chinese people. It falls on a different date each year and lasts 15 days. Days before the New Year, every family is busy giving its house a thorough cleaning. ~They decorate the doors and windows with paper-cuts and put lanterns around their houses. On the Eve, all the family members come together to have a big dinner. It is a feast. After dinner, it is time for the whole family to sit up for the night. They play card games or watch TV programs. Next morning, people all dress in their best clothes. Children greet their parents or grandparents and get their gifts of money in red envelops. Then the family start out to say greetings from door to door.

    It is summer holiday. I don't go to school these days. I am going to Hainan Island(岛)with my family, Mum, Dad and little brother.

    Now it's one o'clock in the afternoon. It is hot and sunny. Mum and Dad are sitting under a big umbrella. Mum is wearing a pair of sunglasses and she is drinking juice. Dad has a towel on his face and he is sleeping soundly(睡得香). “Where is Susie?” Mum asks. “Here I am”, I answers. “I am swimming in the sea.” Look, Tommy, my litter brother is watching me near the sea. Because he can't swim. He only wants me to play ball games with him.

    I'm Chen Jie. I'm from China. I have four good friends. Mike and John are boys. Mike is from Canada. John is from the USA. Amy and Sarah are my friends, too. They are from the UK. I like my friends!

Cindy: Hi! I'm Cindy. I'm in the USA. It's seven. I'm having my breakfast. I have an apple pie, an egg and some bread. The orange juice and the banana are my favorite.

Kate: Hi! I'm Kate. In Japan(日本), I often have rice and soup for breakfast. And I love fish best. After breakfast, I often drink tea.

    Today is Sunday, and I go to hospital to see my friend, Mike. He hurts his left leg, and he can't go to school. It's so bad, because he cannot have his favorite class, piano lessons. But now, he gets better, because the doctor take an X-ray for him, and he takes some pills, these are good for his hurt.
