Mexico(墨西哥)is to the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} of the U. S. and it's a very beautiful country. Most of the people there {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Spanish.

    Mexico is one of the most famous old cultural{#blank#}3{#/blank#} in the world. The Maya Civilization(玛雅文明)was developed there. People can see many old buildings in Mexico, such as the Sun Pyramid and the Moon Pyramid. They are very famous places of interest,{#blank#}4{#/blank#}lots of people from the world visit them every day.

    In Mexico, you can see cactuses(仙人掌) {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. There are about two {#blank#}6{#/blank#} kinds of cactuses in the world, and you can find more than half of them in Mexico. Some cactuses are about 17 metres {#blank#}7{#/blank#} and 40, 000 kilograms! That's amazing, isn't it? So Mexico is called“The Nation of Cactuses”.

    Mexico is {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the home town of corn. The Mexican usually say, “We created(创造)corn and at the same time, corn created us. ”

    One day a beggar (乞丐) was going from house to house. He had a(n){#blank#}1{#/blank#} in one hand and at every house he asked for money to buy something to eat. He felt sad about being so unlucky in life, and kept {#blank#}2{#/blank#} why some people always wanted more. He thought that {#blank#}3{#/blank#} he had enough money to buy food and clothes, he would be very happy and wouldn't want anything more.

    Then Fortune (财富) came down the street. She {#blank#}4{#/blank#} the beggar and said to him, "I want to help "you. Open your bag and I will put {#blank#}5{#/blank#} into it, but only on this condition (条件) All that goes into your bag will be {#blank#}6{#/blank#} but all that falls on the ground (地面) will turn into dust ( 尘土)."

    "OK," said the beggar.

    "Your bag is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} I can't put too much in it," said Fortune.

    The beggar opened his bag and Fortune put money into it. His bag grew very{#blank#}8{#/blank#}. "You are rich now," said Fortune. “I should stop! Your bag is going to {#blank#}9{#/blank#}!"

    However, the beggar said he wanted some more. Fortune {#blank#}10{#/blank#} more money to his bag and the bag broke. All the money fell to the ground and turned into dust. The beggar had nothing but his old bag. He was as poor as before.

    Many years ago, there was a Greek king named Midas. King Midas loved gold very much. He had more gold than any other king in the world, but he still wanted more.

    One day, a beautiful fairy (仙子) came to his palace. "Midas, you are the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} man in the world," said the fairy. "Yes," said the king, "but I want more gold because gold is the most wonderful thing in the world!" "Your wish will {#blank#}2{#/blank#}" said the fairy. "From tomorrow morning, you can turn everything you touch into gold."

    King Midas got up very early the next morning. He wanted to see if his wish had really come true. He touched his bed with his {#blank#}3{#/blank#} and the bed was turned into gold. The king was wild with joy. He ran around his palace and touched everything he saw. Everything was turned into gold!

The king felt hungry after running around for a long time. He decided to have his breakfast. However, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} he touched a bowl of milk, the bowl, together with the milk in it, was turned into gold. What's more, the bread and the meat were also turned into gold when he touched them. In the end, the poor king ate {#blank#}5{#/blank#}.

    King Midas was sitting hungrily at the dinner table when his little daughter ran to him. He hugged her and the little gal became a gold statue (雕塑) {#blank#}6{#/blank#}. The king felt afraid. "Fairy," he shouted, "take away this {#blank#}7{#/blank#} gift! Give me back my little gal!"

    In a moment, the fairy was standing before him. "Do you still think that gold is the greatest thing in the world?" asked the fairy "No, no!" cried the king. "I have learned my lesson!" "Very well," said the fairy. "There is a spring(像) in the garden. Sprinkle (洒) things that you have touched {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the water from the spring."

    The king {#blank#}9{#/blank#} to the spring. He ran back with a bottle of water and sprinkled the water on his {#blank#}10{#/blank#}head. Soon, the little girl came to life. He then sprinkled his breakfast. To his great joy, it turned back to real bread and meat!

    Will it matter if you don't take your breakfast? A short time ago, a test {#blank#}1{#/blank#}given in some places. People of different ages from 12 to 83 were asked to have a{#blank#}2{#/blank#}. During the test, these people were given{#blank#}3{#/blank#}kinds of breakfast, and some got no breakfast at all.  Scientists wanted to {#blank#}4{#/blank#}how well their bodies worked when they had different kinds of breakfasts. The results show that if a person{#blank#}5{#/blank#}a right breakfast, he or she will work {#blank#}6{#/blank#} than if he or she has no breakfast. If a student has fruit, egg, bread and milk before {#blank#}7{#/blank#} to school, he will learn more quickly and listen more{#blank#}8{#/blank#}in class. The result is opposite to what some people think. Having no breakfast will not help you lose weight. This is because people become so{#blank#}9{#/blank#}at noon that they eat too much for lunch. They will gain weight instead of losing{#blank#}10{#/blank#}.
