I don't very often have a full day off work. Today I did. I had a leisurely morning, going to the gym, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(walk) the dog, feeding my friend's cat, and thought I would hurry into the office at Job number 2, to fill in my time sheet so I would {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (pay) for the hours I have worked. I was thinking that I had worked less hours because the lady I share job with was working instead {#blank#}3{#/blank#} me. I prayed then, that somehow we would have {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (much) money coming in this month and imagined money coming in to my bank account.

    I arrived at the office to see the main secretary looking very pale. She asked what my afternoon {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (plan) were, when I said I had the afternoon free she asked me {#blank#}6{#/blank#} I could work for her, as she had really hurt her back. I was really looking forward to a day off, but she looked in such pain that I said yes straight away. She did a quick handover of what{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(be) urgent and needed to be done.

    I raced home and got {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(change) into work appropriate clothes and took over. Our boss phoned and thanked me for steeping in so that everything went {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(smooth). Thee unwell person went home, and I got four hours extra pay. It's amazing how {#blank#}10{#/blank#}universe works.

    Mr. Robinson had to travel somewhere on business. As he was{#blank#}1{#/blank#}a hurry, he decided to go by air. He liked sitting beside a window when he was flying, {#blank#}2{#/blank#}when he got onto the plane, he looked for a window seat. He found all of them already {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(take) except one. There was a soldier sitting in the seat beside {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Wondering why this one had not been taken, Mr. Robinson at once went towards it.

    When he reached it, however, Mr. Robinson saw that there was a notice stuck on the seat. It said, “This seat{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(keep) for proper load balance, thank you.” Because he had never seen such a kind of{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(usual) notice in a plane before, Mr. Robinson was a little surprised. But he thought that the plane must be carrying something {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(particular) heavy in it, so he walked on and found{#blank#}8{#/blank#}empty seat, not beside a window, to sit in.

    Two or three people tried to sit in the window seat beside the soldier, but they too read the notice and went on. When the plane was nearly full, a very pretty girl hurried into the plane. The soldier,{#blank#}9{#/blank#}was watching the passengers coming in, quickly took the notice off the seat beside his and in this way succeeded in having the company of a{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(beautiful) during the whole trip.

    Living beside an active volcano (火山) means that small earthquakes are not unusual. Everybody here knows {#blank#}1{#/blank#} they feel like, and they come {#blank#}2{#/blank#} no surprise to the local people. For me, they're a little different, though.

    What do you do when there's an earthquake? Most people would try to leave the building. I live on {#blank#}3{#/blank#} third floor of a flat with several more stores above me—nobody wants {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (trap) under that after an earthquake. I guess, if an earthquake came, I would probably just panic rather than think about what I need to do, such as hiding somewhere or {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (run) out of the building.

    I had never felt an earthquake until last week. There was a small earthquake {#blank#}6{#/blank#} could hardly even be called an earthquake. I was not really {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (frighten). To feel the earth move like that was just strange. Of course, it {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (last) only a few seconds. I have spoken to the local people since the event and {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (luck), there were no injuries or damage {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (do) by it. But if it had been a real earthquake, I think I would have felt quite differently.

Tsinghua University was established in 1911, originally under the name "Tsinghua Xuetang". The school was renamed "Tsinghua School" in 1912. The university section {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (found) in 1925. The name "National Tsinghua University" was adopted in 1928.

Tsinghua University was forced {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (move) to Kunming and join with Peking University and Nankai University to form the Southwest Associated University due to the Resistance War {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the Japanese Invasion in 1937. In 1946 the university was moved back to its {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (origin) location in Beijing after the war.

In November 1952, Mr. Jiang Nanxiang became the President of the University. He made {#blank#}5{#/blank#} significant contribution in leading Tsinghua to become the national center for {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (train) great engineers and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (science).

{#blank#}8{#/blank#} China opened up to the world in 1978, Tsinghua University has developed at a breathtaking pace into a research university. Tens of thousands of students have graduated from Tsinghua since its founding, among {#blank#}9{#/blank#} are many outstanding scholars, excellent businesspersons and great statesmen {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (respect) by their fellow Chinese citizens.
