Look at the koala! It is 1 lovely that I want to touch it. How much do you know about koalas, especially a baby koala? Let's look at it.

    A newborn koala is smaller than a peanut. For the first few months the baby 2 inside its mother's pouch(育儿袋), and drinks its mother's milk.

    By the age of 5 3, its eyes are open and it can look out 4 the pouch. It still stays there.

     About six months after the baby is born, it leaves its mother's pouch for the 5 time for a short time, but it hangs onto its mother's back.

    It is now about 500g. It comes in and out of the pouch. It keeps very close to its 6and returns to the pouch within a few minutes. Gradually the baby will stay out longer.

    By 12 months old, the baby wants to eat only eucalyptus(桉树) 7, no more its mother's milk. The mother koala begins teaching her baby which eucalyptus leaves are 8 to eat.

    A one-year-old koala can 9 on its own, 10 it doesn't often do that. Most young koalas stay with their mothers until they are two or three years old.

     Some inventions are very important. For example, the telephone allows people to communicate all over the world. The 1 lets people travel long distances in a short time. Life is much easier with these 2inventions.

     Some inventions are just fun. A company in Japan has invented3 flowers. You can listen to music that comes through real flowers. Customers in restaurants can smell the beautiful roses 4listen to pleasant music while eating. People in the dentist's office can look at pretty lilies and listen to Mozart while having their 5examined!

     There is now a vehicle that gets you around with almost no effort 6. In fact, you drive this invention while standing on it ! This vehicle runs by electricity. It 7 quite easily. When you lean forward, it moves forward, and when you lean 8, it moves backward!

     A new kind of bubble(气泡) liquid（液）has been invented. If you blow bubbles 9 this liquid, they can last for several minutes! 10 are very strong. You can even pick them up and throw them around!

    WWF started a programme recently(最近) to put an end(停止) to tiger poaching(非法狩猎) and 5wild tigers. China, together with 12 other countries, has joined in.

    The Siberian tiger is already6of the world's most endangered(濒危的) animals. If the government doesn't take any action, it's quite7that there will be no more Siberian tigers in China in 10 to 20 years. Animals such as deer, sheep and wild boars(野猪) are the tigers' main food. There isn't enough8for wild tigers because of the hunting of these animals. So the 9 thing people can do is save the animals which tigers eat." To protect the tigers, we need to call on more people to 10 eating and hunting wild animals."

    There have been many great inventions that change the way we live. The first great 1was one that is still very important today-the wheel. This made it easy for man 2heavy things and to travel long distances. For hundreds of years after that, there were 3inventions that had as much effect as the wheel. Then in the early 1800's the world started to change 4. There was little unknown land left in the world. People did not have to explore much anymore. In the second half of the 19th century many great inventions were made.      5them were the camera, the electric light and the radio. These have all become a big part of our life today.

    The first part of the 20th century saw more great inventions. The helicopter in 1909. Movies 6sound in 1926. The computer in 1928. And jet planes in 1930. This was also a time when a new 7was first made. Nylon came out in 1935. It changed the kind of clothes people wear. Of course new inventions continued to be made. Man began looking 8 ways to go into space. Russia made the first step. Then the United States took another. Since then other countries，including China and Japan,9their steps into space. In 1969 man took his biggest step away from earth. 10first walked on the moon. This was certainly just a beginning. New inventions will someday allow us to do things we have never yet dreamed of.

    Global warming means the temperature of the Earth is getting higher and higher. If the Earth gets 1, some of the following things could happen:

    The sea level could 2 because of the melting of sea ice.

    Many animals that live on the ice might 3 out.

    There could be more floods(洪水), 4 near the sea and rivers.

    Some plants and animals might die because they cannot live in high 5.

    Global warming is a very 6 problem now. There is something we can do to help to slow it down.

    Scientists have been studying global warming for years. They have found that some things that people do in everyday life make much gas that 7 global warming. One big cause of this is the burning of oil, gas and coal for energy for our cars and homes. This gives off too much greenhouse gas. We can do something to cut 8 on the amount of greenhouse gas.

    ⒈ We can really help by using less energy in life, and less gas in our family cars. We should turn off the 9 and turn down other electrical equipment. We should walk more and use cars less.

    ⒉ 10 can take in some of the greenhouse gas. So we should plant more trees.
