       Confidence (自信）is very important in daily life. It is helpful to develop a healthy attitude(态度）. If people are more confident, they are much happier. And they can have more chances to be successful. Here are some suggestions to be more confident.

       Speak loud! When you are not confident, you can't do well what you want to do. You speak in a voice so low that other people can hardly hear you. Try to speak loud in order that people can hear you clearly. The high voice can help you become more confident.
       Play sports! Physical exercise makes you tired but completely relaxed. A strong body helps you be full of confidence.

       Encourage yourself! Write down a list of things you did during the day to see how many things you have done well. Give yourself praise(表扬) for the good things you've done.
      Keep a hobby! If you like drawing, draw as much as you can. In some ways, a hobby can make you perfect. And it will make you happy and confident.

    Wendy is manager of customer service at ABC Products. She received the following letters from customers. Read the letters and answer the questions.

    It's June 6. It's Jenny's birthday. She comes home and sees a card on the table. It says, "There is a present for you, Jenny. Go and look for it in your bedroom (卧室)." Jenny runs to her bedroom. She sees a red box on her bed. She opens it. There is another (又一) card in it. Jenny takes it out and reads, "Dear Jenny, I'm your present. My first letter is in 'some', but not in 'come'. What am I?"

    Jenny thinks and then she says, "Aha, I know! But where is it?" Jenny finds (找到) it behind the door.

    Tornadoes(龙卷风) are whirlwinds(旋风) with speeds of up to 400 km per hour. In Britain, there were very few tornadoes in the past. Now, there are more than 50 tornadoes a year. Tornadoes are only one sign of the world's climate changes. There are many others. The number of thunderstorms is increasing, and there are more floods in some parts of the world, and there's much less rain in others. Scientists still do not know enough about the reasons for these climate changes. Most scientists think human activities are the problem.

    Cutting down trees, burning too much oil, and the increase in the number of cars are some of the things that cause the problems. Global(全球的) temperatures are rising because of these things. Scientists believe that if the temperatures continue to rise, the ice at the poles will melt(融化) .

    If the ice melts, sea levels will rise. Some islands might disappear completely. All this means that unless we do something to stop global warming now, there may be many other dramatic changes in the future.

    There are always many young people who want to learn something from me. In fact, I'm not as lucky as most of you. I tried 3 times for colleges but all failed. For the fourth time, I tried for the teachers' college and they accepted me. I applied(申请) for jobs for 30 times. You can guess the results. It was so difficult at that time. I was down but I didn't give up and fought on. So you can see a new Ma Yun now.

    You are lucky enough. You are at the best time of this century. The best wealth you have is that you are young.

    Among all the challenges, I think the biggest one is education. Something we teach our kids is too old. So we have to research what is the best way and what are the best things to teach our kids.

    The future you face is not a competition for knowledge but a competition for creativity and imagination.

    Welcome to Maxwell's superstore. Maxwell's superstore is the largest store in the town. You may find everything you want in the store. Women's wear and children's wear are on the first floor. Men's wear and sporting goods are on the second floor. On the third floor are the electrical goods and furniture. On the fourth floor are travelling goods and books. Toys are on the fifth floor. There is only a restaurant on the top floor, the sixth floor. On each floor there is a cash desk. You may pay at any of them. There is a large parking lot behind the store, which can hold 200 cars at the same time.
