Nobody knows how many different languages there are in the world. The most widely used language is English. It's used by business people, airline pilots all over the world. It's also the first language of sports and science. So it's very important for us to learn English.

    English is most widely spoken in the world, while Chinese has the largest number of speakers. There are not only over one billion people living in China, but also many Chinese people living outside China. You can find large or small groups of Chinese people living in almost every country in the world.

    There are some other important languages in the world, too. Chinese is of course very important, especially in Asia. Arabic is widely spoken in many parts of Asia and Africa. Russian is spoken both in Europe and Asia. French is widely understood, not only in Europe, but also in parts of Canada, Africa and Asia. Spanish has a growing number of speakers all over the world, especially in Central and South Africa.

    What language do people speak in the United Nations? There are so many different languages in the world, but they decide to use only six of them. They are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish. Everything spoken or written in one language is translated into the other five.

    3D printing is becoming more and more popular. We are now able to print things such as clothing, prosthetic limbs (假肢), musical instruments(乐器) and so on. People and businesses are able to create the things they need very quickly and easily using 3D printers.

    But can you imagine printing food? Some scientists are trying to revolutionize our eating experience by doing this. They hope that having a 3D printer in the kitchen will become as usual as the microwave or blender. Scientists say that they are easy to use: you simply have to choose a recipe and put the food "inks" into the printer. You can also change the instructions to make the food exactly how you want it. This means that it would be very quick and easy to create delicious meals.

    Using 3D printers to create your meals would also be saving the environment. There would be less need for traditional growing, transporting(运输) and packaging as food production would be quicker and easier.

    Printing food could also help people who suffer from dysphasia (吞咽障碍症). They could program (为…编程) the printer to print softer versions of their favorite foods so that they would not have trouble eating them.

    However, some people think that the future of 3D-printed food would be a disaster. It could take away many jobs, including those for growing, transporting and packaging food. Imagine a world where there was no need for farming or growing crops and the same tastes could be printed from a raw "food ink". Similarly, traditional cafes and restaurants might lose business. Also, there are worries about the printed food: is it really possible to get the nutrients (营养物) we need from food-based inks and gels?

    What's more, cooking and eating together with family and friends has long been a traditional and enjoyable activity. It is hard to imagine a world where the fun of cooking is dead and meals can be done at the touch of a button.                                                        

    Nadia Comaneci, a famous gymnast (体操运动员) , was born in Romania in 1961.

    When she was doing cartwheels (侧手翻) on the playground at the age of 6, a PE teacher saw her. He told her family that she was very good and advised Nadia to train in the capital of Romania. Although it was a long way from her home, Nadia went because she loved gymnastics (体操).

    After that, she trained hard and took part in lots of competitions. In 1975, she was named as one of the Athletes of the 20th Century.

    In 1976, Nadia went to the Olympics in Canada. She was so fantastic in the competition that everyone waited for the score, a high score. But the scoreboard showed 1.00!

    Everyone was surprised. There wasn't a sound for a moment. Then a voice came, "Ladies and gentlemen, Nadia Comaneci…10!"

    The audience (观众) cheered very loudly. So what happened? Well, when the scoreboard was built, no one thought a score of 10. 00 was possible. The decimal point (小数点) was in the wrong place! In fact, the scoreboard only had three digits (数位) to show scores, such as 9. 50 or 9. 85 at that time.

    In the 1976 Summer Olympics, Nadia Comaneci scored a perfect 10, which was thought impossible before. From then on, she was looked as a hero. In 1984, she got retired (退休的).

The ancient Chinese educator Confucius (孔子) often traveled through all the stales, teaching. 

One day, he took his carriage (四轮马车) and went out on one of these journeys. Seeing a child in the middle of the road, he asked the driver to stop. Confucius said to the child, "Could you please give way to my carriage?" The child didn't answer. Confucius asked again and the child pointed at a small castle (城堡) made of mud (泥) on his own behind himself, saying, "Can't you see that there is a castle here? I only heard of carriages going around castles. I've never heard of castles giving way to traffic." Confucius was really surprised and said, "At such a young age, you seem to know quite a lot."

The child raised his head and looked directly at Confucius. He said, "I heard fish can swim as soon as they are born. Rabbits can run on the third day after birth. You see, age doesn't make a difference." Hearing this, Confucius felt the child's words were right and said, "Oh, young people today are really fantastic." Then he asked the carriage driver to go around the child's castle. 

Later, people use "Hou Sheng Ke Wei" to mean that young people should be considered with respect (尊重) because they are full of new and creative ideas. Sometimes they will often be better than the old.
