During my first year in China,I spent the summer holiday{#blank#}1{#/blank#}my family at the seaside in Beidaihe.The hotel {#blank#}2{#/blank#}we were staying in was near the sea,so we used to spend most of our time{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(swim).Now,my wife is from Switzerland and when she was at home,she bought me a watch as{#blank#}4{#/blank#}present.The watch she bought{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(be) waterproof（防水的）and I never took it off,even when I was having a bath.When I went swimming at Beidaihe,I didn't take my watch off either.On the last day of our holiday,I went swimming and{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(come) out of the sea without my watch.As I was leaving,the manager of the hotel said,“Leave your address and phone number so that we can send your watch to you if we can find it.”I did so but I wasn't very{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(hope).One week later,I got a phone call from the hotel.The man who{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(find) my watch was a PLA man.He picked it up when he was out{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(walk) on the beach one day and handed it in at the police station.After several{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(day),I got my watch back and it was still working.

    I like my new teachers very much because they are kind and{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(patience). Several days ago{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(want) to do some revision for my English class. I usually enjoy{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(do) that but I couldn't understand the text I was reading. I felt{#blank#}4{#/blank#}sad that I nearly cried. Then I remembered that Mr. Smith,{#blank#}5{#/blank#}new English teacher, had told us that we could ask him about things we didn't understand at any time. I wrote down{#blank#}6{#/blank#}couple of questions and put them to Mr. Smith and he gave me a really clear{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(explain).

    I really appreciated{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(have) so many good teachers like Mr. Smith. They made me feel cared{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(immediate) I entered the school. I'm sure everyone of us has shown respect{#blank#}10{#/blank#}them.

    My time in China was a(an){#blank#}1{#/blank#} (forget) experience. Every day was a new adventure. I made life-long friends and had many{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(last) memories. My study abroad program organized trips for us to learn about each city and to visit cultural {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (sight). While I was in Beijing, I climbed the Great Wall of China, and visited Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Bird's Nest Olympic stadium. I also had the opportunity of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (stick) in a Beijing thunderstorm, bargaining in the market, and riding the high-speed train. While I was in Tianjin, I{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(study) at Nankai University. I was taking the Chinese language and culture courses{#blank#}6{#/blank#} I enjoyed most is that whatever I learned in class, I would use it outside to communicate with people. Having the opportunity {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (speak) Mandarin every day really improved my learning. In the afternoon I would have culture classes{#blank#}8{#/blank#} I would learn about Chinese calligraphy, Beijing opera, Chinese martial arts, Chinese cooking and many other subjects. The mix of learning about the language and culture made each day of class {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (enjoyable') exciting.

    I believe that the key {#blank#}10{#/blank#}studying abroad successfully is the attitude you carry. Going to China, I was open-minded and had a very positive attitude.

    I don't very often have a full day off work. Today I did. I had a leisurely morning, going to the gym, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(walk) the dog, feeding my friend's cat, and thought I would hurry into the office at Job number 2, to fill in my time sheet so I would {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (pay) for the hours I have worked. I was thinking that I had worked less hours because the lady I share job with was working instead {#blank#}3{#/blank#} me. I prayed then, that somehow we would have {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (much) money coming in this month and imagined money coming in to my bank account.

    I arrived at the office to see the main secretary looking very pale. She asked what my afternoon {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (plan) were, when I said I had the afternoon free she asked me {#blank#}6{#/blank#} I could work for her, as she had really hurt her back. I was really looking forward to a day off, but she looked in such pain that I said yes straight away. She did a quick handover of what{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(be) urgent and needed to be done.

    I raced home and got {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(change) into work appropriate clothes and took over. Our boss phoned and thanked me for steeping in so that everything went {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(smooth). Thee unwell person went home, and I got four hours extra pay. It's amazing how {#blank#}10{#/blank#}universe works.
