Yash Gupta has worn glasses for many years. When they broke one day and he was not able {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (wear) them to school, he had a big problem. He could not see much of what was going on in his classroom. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} he learnt nothing at the end of the day.

    Yash quickly got his glasses fixed, but this experience changed {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (he) life. He thought probably many kids around the world did not have proper (合适的) glasses {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (help) them learn at school.

    So, he {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (make) some researches. He found that 13 million children around the world didn't have proper glasses. And he learnt that not having glasses could cause a 20％ loss in learning!

    Instead of {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (shake) his head at this problem. Yash decided to do something. A few months later, he started {#blank#}7{#/blank#} small organization, Sight Learning, to help find glasses for other kids that need them. He started Sight Learning in 2011 and since then he has helped {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (thousand) of young students around the world! Sight Learning provides {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (glass) for students who need them but cannot afford them.

    Yash is a great example of a young person who takes action to improve not only his own life, but also those {#blank#}10{#/blank#} others.

    One day，I got a phone call before getting up. It was {#blank#}1{#/blank#}a taxi driver. He said he had my friend's phone. My friend left her phone in his taxi. The driver {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(call) others but I was the first one to answer it.

    It was a {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(rain) morning. Too many people were waiting to {#blank#}4{#/blank#}a taxi. The driver could make {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(much) money (钱) on such (如此的) a day. But he asked me {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (get) the phone. And he said he could bring it to me. I told him my address and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (quick) got dressed to meet him.

    I thanked him {#blank#}8{#/blank#} his kindness (善良) when he arrived. I was happy for my friend. She came to this city only two weeks ago. So the phone was very {#blank#}9{#/blank#} to her.

    I wrote an e­mail to tell her {#blank#}10{#/blank#} I got her phone. She said she felt warm to be in such a city. I felt warm on such a cold, rainy day, too.

    Since computers were {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (invent) in the US in 1946, they have become very important in many areas(领域). There is no doubt(毋庸置疑) that computers are very {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (use) in technology and business. In space, computers have been used to control the speed and direction of a spaceship. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the help of computers, doctors can find diseases(疾病) easily and solve other problems. For example, tiny computers which are inside patients' bodies can keep {#blank#}4{#/blank#} hearts beating normally. In factories, robots are controlled by computers that are {#blank#}5{#/blank#} human brains. They can do work that is {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (danger) to humans. In business, computers are used to place and cancel (取消) orders. They are also making the workplace safer and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (good).

Since the Internet came into being, people'

s {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (life) at home have been changed, too. More and more people have {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (person) computers that are used to play games and watch movies. Thanks to the Internet, people can do shopping and do business at home. Instead of writing letters on paper, people communicate {#blank#}10{#/blank#} sending e- mails and chatting online. The whole world is connected. The Internet is making the world smaller, like a village.
