Chuck Wall teaches management and human relations at Bakersfield College. He walked into class one day and told his students that their homework was to perform a simple and random act of kindness. Not {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (understand) the homework, the students didn't know what to do. Chuck didn't answer their questions. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, he encouraged his students to work it out by themselves.

    One week later, the students entered the classroom and began sharing their stories {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (excited). One reported on helping a poor dog {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (abandon) by its owner. Another student told others about giving blankets away to the homeless. Gradually, more and more students developed the habit of doing such kind acts, from {#blank#}5{#/blank#} they benefited a lot.

    Since then, similar kind acts {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (perform) in schools around the world. Many schools organize a Random Acts of Kindness Week, around November 13^th, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (celebrate) World Kindness Day. Some schools use each day of Random Acts of Kindness Week to perform a {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (differ) kind act, such {#blank#}9{#/blank#} making a new friend, helping someone, doing community service or raising money for a charity. In this way, students learn to consider other people and think about how small actions can make the world a {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (good) place.

    An earthquake is a shaking of the ground{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(cause) by the sudden breaking and shifting of large sections of Earth's rocky outer shell. Earthquakes are among the most{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(power) events on earth, and their results can be terrifying. Rock movements during an earthquake can make rivers{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(change) their course. Earthquakes can cause great damage and loss of{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(live). Large earthquakes beneath the ocean can create a series{#blank#}5{#/blank#}huge and destructive waves called tsunamis{#blank#}6{#/blank#}flood coasts for many miles. Earthquakes almost never kill people{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(direct). Instead, many deaths and injuries in earthquakes result from {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(fall) objects and the collapse（倒塌）of buildings, bridges, and other structures. Fire caused from broken gas or power lines is another major danger during{#blank#}9{#/blank#}quake. Spills（溢出）of {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(harm) chemicals are also a concern during an earthquake.

    Savanna, 11, is possibly one of our next great experts of the heart disease. After visiting her Sunday school teacher, who was about to perform a heart {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (operate) at the hospital, Savanna's curiosity led towards a deep appreciation of the heart and its importance to the human body.

    Encouraged by her parents to research further matters of the heart, Savanna learned that one in three of her peers (同龄人) {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (be) suffering from childhood fatness, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} can lead to heart diseases. She began making YouTube videos sharing with the world ways to have a better health and create a happy, healthy heart.

    In 2016, Happy Heart Advice launched its Happy Heart Challenges, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (provide) over 300 hundred children and families {#blank#}5{#/blank#} education and free resources for healthy living. In June, she {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (invite) as an important speaker at the 9th Biennial Obesity Conference where she shared valuable information on how to form healthy eating {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (habit) and everyday lifestyles, and was honored by the American Heart Association for her work and effects in the health community at such {#blank#}8{#/blank#} early age.

    She's currently working on an app that will make it {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(easy) for moms and families to shop for “Happy Heart-approved Food”. She makes it her life's goal {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (make) sure kids have healthy hearts.

    In ancient Egypt, the pharaoh (法老) treated the message runner like a prince if he brought good news. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}, if the exhausted runner had the misfortune to bring, his head was cut off. Shades of that spirit spread over today's conversations. Once a friend and I packed up some peanut butter and sandwiches in {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (prepare) for an outing. As we walked {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (cheerful) out of the door, a smiling neighbor looked up at the sky and said, "Oh boy, a bad day for a picnic for it's going to rain." I {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (strike) him in the face in my mind not for his stupid weather report {#blank#}5{#/blank#} for his smile.

    More often than not, what makes someone angry is not the unpleasant news but the unsympathetic attitude with {#blank#}6{#/blank#} it's delivered. Everyone must give bad news from time to time, but big winners know they should share the feeling of the receiver when {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (deliver) any bad news. If my neighbor {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (tell) me of the upcoming rainstorm with {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (sympathetic), I would have appreciated his warning. Big winners, when they bear bad news, deliver bombs with the emotion the bombarded (被轰炸) person is sure {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (have).
