Laura and Susie were born on the same day in the same hospital and at the same time. They{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (be) very close friends since they were very little. One bright sunny day, as I{#blank#}2{#/blank#} (walk) home from the shops, I decided to take a short cut {#blank#}3{#/blank#}the park. All of a sudden I heard a loud scream. It sounded like a child. With fright I dropped my shopping bag and ran in the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (direct) of the noise.

    As I was getting {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(close) to the noise I saw two little girls, one of {#blank#}6{#/blank#} was screaming in pain. The other child was frozen to the spot with a look of terror on her face. As I ran towards them, I quickly realized that I knew the children. One was my daughter Laura and the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}was her best friend Susie.

    I was totally shocked to see the girls there, as they knew they were not allowed to go to the park alone. Obviously the girls {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(hear) strange noises and then decided to run as fast as they could to get away. While {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(run), Susie fell over and could not get up.

    Susie's mother and I had another talk with the girls about not wandering off without an adult then. Both of them learnt a {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(value) lesson.

    Two weeks ago, we reported about developments with {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (electricity) planes and flying cars. That technology could bring change to commercial and personal travel. Last week, two {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(company), Kitty Hawk and Uber, announced their plans to bring flying cars to reality. Sooner {#blank#}3{#/blank#}you think, flying cars may appear in the skies. Imagine never {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(have) to worry about traffic, stoplights, or road construction. A flying car could get somewhere much faster than one traveling by road.

    Kitty Hawk is a start-up tech company supported by Google co-founder. Its first flying cars,{#blank#}5{#/blank#}travel at a speed of up to 40 kilometers an hour,{#blank#}6{#/blank#}expect) to go on sale by the end of 2017. Uber expects to launch flying taxis in Texas and Dubai by 2020.{#blank#}7{#/blank#}says its flying taxis could travel up to 241 kilometers an hour, with the travel time {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(reduce) from 2 hours on the road to 15 minutes in the air between San Francisco and San Jose, California. Riders could use the Uber app {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(book) a flying taxi to take them to their destinations. It is estimated that flying taxi travel will be much {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (expensive) compared with road taxi travel.

    The year of 2014 was pretty tough for Stevens. Unfortunate{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(event) happened to him one after another. He lost all his wealth and couldn't pay for his insurance, but there was even {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(bad) news to come. He had skin cancer, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}made him ready to give up.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(lucky), he managed to find a job later and moved into a new home. It was then that Stevens seemed to turn a corner and realized his life was still worth {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(fight) for. He wrote in his blog, "My wife had told me many times she wished she could visit New York one day. She also wished we had had a place{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(exercise) outside and watched our daughters playing." He decided to put his plan into {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(act) — building a garden. To make a surprise for his wife, Stevens sent her off for a trip to New York City.

    Then, he went crazy building the garden. After ten days, all the work {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (pay) off. It made a big difference to Stevens' life. He wrote, "The kids love  {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (they) new space. And I feel strangely{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (satisfy) to build this, which inspires me to keep going."
