The Internet is an amazing information resource. Students, teachers, and researchers use it as {#blank#}1{#/blank#} investigative tool. Journalists use it {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(find) information for stories. Doctors use it to learn more about unfamiliar diseases and the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (late) medical development. Ordinary people use it for shopping, banking, bill-paying, and communicating with family and friends {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(live) far away or in different parts of a city. People all over the world use it to connect with individuals from {#blank#}5{#/blank#} countries and cultures. {#blank#}6{#/blank#}, although there are many positive developments {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(associate) with the Internet, there are also certain fears and concerns. One concern relates to a lack of control over {#blank#}8{#/blank#} appears on the Internet. With television and radio there are editors to check the accuracy or appropriateness of the content of programs, and with television there are restrictions on what kinds of programs can {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(broadcast) and at what times of the day. With the Internet, parents can not check a published guide to determine what is suitable {#blank#}10{#/blank#} their children to see.

Using Garbage as a Fuel

    Garbage can be a good fuel to use. The things in garbage do not look {#blank#}1{#/blank#}coal, petroleum, or natural gas, but they are chemically similar to these fossil fuels. As we use up our fossil fuel supplies, we might be able to use garbage as {#blank#}2{#/blank#}energy source. Burning garbage {#blank#}3{#/blank#}( be) not a new idea. Some cities in Europe and the United States {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(burn) garbage for years. The heat that is produced by burning garbage is used to boil water. The steam that is produced is used to make electricity or to heat nearby {#blank#}5{#/blank#}( build). In Paris, France, some power plants burn almost 2 million metric tons of the city's garbage each year. The amount of energy {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(produce) is about the same as would be produced by burning almost a half million barrels of oil!

    But there are problems in using garbage as a fuel. Garbage that burns {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(easy) , such as food and paper, must be separated from metals, glass, and other materials {#blank#}8{#/blank#}do not. Another problem is that burning garbage can pollute the air. Our fossil fuel supplies are {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(limit) . Burning garbage might be one kind of energy source that we can use to help meet our energy needs. This method could also reduce the amount of garbage {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(pile) up on the earth.

    Sugar sculpture blowing is {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Chinese folk art where artists blow and sculpt hot sugar to create 3D {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (figure). The finished sculptures not only look good，but also have a good taste, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (make) them popular among children.

    The main raw material for sugar sculpture blowing is malt sugar (麦芽糖).The malt sugar {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (use) in sculpture blowing has to be heated to high temperatures. It can only be used after several steps, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} include the sorting and cooking of the malt sugar followed by the firing and melting of it.

    Sugar sculpture blowing is {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(careful) made. It can be divided {#blank#}7{#/blank#} two methods—one uses molds (模子)；the other does not，and involves sugar figures taking shape through a combination of blowing air into the processed malt sugar and the artist's flexible hand skills.

    The complex process may explain why there are fewer people making sugar sculpture. To protect and promote this {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (tradition) craftsmanship, the government of Hebei Province founded a sugar figure art {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(organise) in 2011. Now it {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (consist) of over 90 artists recognized as the inheritors (继承人)of the technique.

    I'm not sure when I started to love qipaos. I just remember that when I saw Zhao Weiand other stars {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(wear) qipaos in the TV series Romance in the Rain, I {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(impress). Although Chinese women are fond of wearing qipaos for special events, for example, red ones for weddings, I wear them more {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(frequent), not only for parties but also sometimes even in the office.

    I've collected some qipaos, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(buy) at a store in one of Beijing's historical neighborhoods. A Chinese friend of mine recently gave me one of her old qipaos, which almost reaches my ankles. The qipao fits well at the shoulders, {#blank#}5{#/blank#}it was simply too tight（紧的）at the waist.

    Many foreigners'{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(body) differ from those of the Chinese, which makes{#blank#}7{#/blank#} hard for some foreigners to take off qipaos. Because I am not too short, and pretty thin, I can often buy ready-made qipaos in China.

    In my native United States, non-Asians {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(be) sometimes blamed on social media for wearing qipaos because of {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(culture)differences, but in China, people have what I consider a more reasonable and open-minded approach: If foreigners wear qipaos, it is seen {#blank#}10{#/blank#} an attitude of appreciation for Chinese culture.

    The Smartphone {#blank#}9{#/blank#}( addict) has spread like an infectious disease.  It's evident that it will do great harm to society. What's even {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(bad), some addicts become impatient with relatives and friends. Some people blame the Smartphone for the sad story, yet in fact people's weakening self-control and self-discipline are to blame.
