Plants are very important. This is because plants can make food from air, water and sunlight. Animals and people can not make food from air, water and sunlight. Animals can get their food by eating plants and animals. People get their food by eating plants and animals, too. So animals and people need plants in order to live. This is why there are so many plants around us. There are two kinds of plants: flowering plants and non-flowering plants. You can know some trees from their flowers and fruits. Non-flowering plants do not grow flowers. You can not see many non-flowering plants around you. If you look carefully at the plants around us, you will find that there are many kinds of plants. Some plants are large and some are small. Most of them are green. Thanks to the plants around us we can live on the earth.

    Christmas is coming. First, Mum, Dad, my sister, my brother and I go shopping in the morning. We buy a lot of presents for our family and friends. We also buy a big Christmas tree. It's very beautiful. Next, we put the things under the Christmas trees. Then, my sister puts a stocking on the bed. Finally, it is Christmas Day. We say "Merry Christmas" to each other and open our presents. We are all very happy.

    This is Sam. He is a boy. He is nine years old. He is fat. He likes reading books and drawing pictures. He can draw very well. He has a good friend. It is a dog, Spotty. It has two small ears and a long tail(尾巴). It can run fast. It likes to eat meat and drink milk. Spotty always(总是)plays with Sam at home.

    It's 7: 30 on Monday morning. It's time forTom to go to school. Classes begin at 7:40. Tom is still in his room. Hismother says, "Hurry, Tom. You must be quick or you'll be late. ""Mum,where's my pencil-box? I can't find it. I can't go to school without mypencil-box." cries Tom

    Look at Tom's room. What a mess(糟糕) ! His books arelying all over(遍布) the room. His football socks are onthe desk. A kite and some clothes are on his bed. Tom's mother comes to helphim. She asks Tom to put his books away and Tom's pencil-box is under the bookson the floor.

    Last week, Mrs White went to London. She didn't know London very well, and she lost her way. Suddenly, she saw a man near a bus stop.

    She went up to the man and said, "Excuse me! Can you tell me the way to the hospital, please?" The man smiled. He knew little English! He came from Germany. He put his hand into his pocket and took out a phone. He looked up some words. Then he said slowly, "I'm sorry I can't understand you."
