Flying kites —a popular hobby

People have been making and flying kites for about 2,000 years. No one knows for sure who invented the kite. Some historians (历史学家) believe the ancient Chinese might start the kite flying 2,000 years ago. And now it is still a popular hobby in China, Japan, Korea and other countries of the Far East where beautifully decorated kites appear in different colors. In China, there is even a special Kites Day on which children and adults fly kites. In Japan, families fly fish kites on Children's Day, May 5th.

    Simple kites are made by crossing two sticks and covering them with paper or cloth. And then people put a string at the end.

    Kites are made in many different sizes, colors and shapes. A flat kite is the oldest and simplest type of kite. It flies because air flows over and under the kite's wings. The pressure under the wings helps the kite lift into the air.

    Today most people fly kites as a hobby. Kite festivals are organized in many parts of the world.

Gabriel Rochet is a 16-year-old French boy. He made the Paxo phone. This phone 1 less than 30 euros（about 240 yuan）. It's so cheap!

"People can put the phone together by 2 ," Gabriel said to French television channel（频道） TF1. They can buy the parts online and watch videos to learn 3 to do it.

Zhang began to learn kung fu{#blank#}4{#/blank#}the age of 15. At that time, he only wanted to be{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(strong) than the other kids.{#blank#}6{#/blank#} after years of training, he became a kung fu star.

A public show in 2012 changed his life and also many children. One day, Zhang performed kung fu at a school in Beijing. After watching the show, some Tibetan orphans were very{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(excite). They wanted to learn kung fu very much.

From then on, Zhang taught these children kung fu. He also taught therm how {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(become) useful people. So the children called him not only "Mr. Zhang" but {#blank#}9{#/blank#}"Dad".

Now these children have grown up. Some of{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(they) are teaching kung fu together with Zhang. They will become "Dads"or "Moms" to even more children.

Huntley has shown himself to be an excellent musician. But this rising star is doing 1 than just making fantastic music. Early this year, Huntley went back to2 home town in Fredericksburg, Virginia. There, he met with local homeless families at Loisann's Hope House. 

The organisation's（组织的）website shows that Loisann's Hope House has been open 3 37 years, providing help for those without a home. Huntley made4 surprise visit and performed（表演）for the homeless children. 

As you can imagine, the children were 5 about this surprise visit. The manager of the shelter said, "The smiles on 6 faces said it all. " "We're so proud of you, Huntley, and everything you've done for our organisation, " the manager7 . "Thank you for choosing to give hope to the homeless children and encouraging them 8 big!"
