There is a National Health Service in Britain. People usually call it "the NHS". When people are ill, they can get free treatment（治疗）. ① The government pays for the treatment. In Britain everyone has a local doctor. The local doctor is a general practitioner (全科医生)(GP). A GP is a doctor who treats patients with all kinds of illness. He may not have specialists (专家) usually work in hospitals.

    If a man is ill and wants to see his doctor, he calls to make an appointment first. If he is too ill and he can't go out, his doctor will come to his house. If the patient has to take medicine, the doctor gives him a prescription(处方). ② The patient has to pay some money for the prescription. He goes to the chemist's shop and buys the medicine there. The price is the same as any kind of medicine. ③But children, students, old people or people without work don't have to pay for their medicine

    One day, a baby snail（蜗牛） found that he had to carry a big and heavy shell（壳） at any time. He was confused(困惑的), so he went up to his mother and asked, “ Why was I born with a shell that grew so hard and heavy?” His mother said, “Because we don't have bones（骨头） to hold us up. We can only move slowly, so we need a shell to protect us.”

    The baby snail asked again, “The caterpillar(毛毛虫) has no bones, either, and she can't move quickly. Why can she live without a shell?” The mother snail answered, “That's because a caterpillar will become a butterfly. She can fly high into the sky. The sky can protect her.”

    The baby snail had one more question, “But the earthworm(蚯蚓) moves like us. He has no bones and he won't turn into a butterfly. Why doesn't he carry a hard and heavy shell?” His mother said, “He can dig a hole and hide in the ground, and then the earth can protect him.”

    The baby snail then cried, “We are so poor! We have no protection from the sky or from the ground!” His mother smiled at him, “That's why we have a shell. My dear, imagine that if we don't have the shells, what will happen to us? Hot sun will dry out our bodies and we'll have nowhere to sleep. What's worse, we'll die in the heavy rain. How terrible it is! We don't depend on the sky or the ground for protection. We should depend on ourselves.”

    Beijing Opera used to sound strange to Dou Yi. The 14-year-old Beijinger said whenever she came across Beijing Opera on TV. she changed the channel(频道).{#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    But since Dou entered the Xuanwu branch school of Beijing No.15 Middle School, she has been studying Beijing Opera in music class every week.

    Dou and her classmates listen to Beijing Opera and learn the basics(基础知识) from professional actors.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}

    “We laugh sometimes because the tunes(声调) are really hard to learn. ” said Dou.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    “After all. I am no longer a layman(外行). ”she said.

    Since 2008, schools around the country have been teaching students Beijing Opera.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} Clearly. Dou's school has been taking the job seriously.

    Yang Ning, 14, is Dou's classmate. She has been studying Beijing Opera since she was 8.She is a member of the school's Beijing Opera club.

    Yang said she had learned a lot from Beijing Opera.

    “I learn a lot of history from the operas. ”she said.“ I've also found out about many ancient poems. since there are so many of them in the operas.”

    Yang doesn't think everyone can learn to sing Beijing Opera well. But she does say that it's helpful for all people to learn about it.

    “The more you learn about it, the more you understand it.{#blank#}5{#/blank#} It would be a great pity if it did！” she said.

    I have a lot of friends. ⑴我最好的朋友是Mary。⑵She is a 16- year- old girl. .She is 2 years older than me. We live in the same town and we began to know each other when we were very young. Now we are class-mates. ⑶Mary is tall and thin, with long black hair. She has an oval face (椭圆的脸) with big eyes, a high nose and a small mouth. Mary is helpful (乐于助人的). When her friends have difficulties, ⑷she always tries her best to help them. Mary is one of the best students in our class. ⑸我喜欢和她一起学习。She always helps me with my studies. Although we have the same hobbies and interests, we also have some differences. I am sociable and enjoy telling jokes. Mary, however, is serious and quiet. We believe in each other, so we are good friends. I hope we can keep our friendship forever (永远).

    Do you want to be in good health? Try to do the following things! You can become stronger.

    Drink eight cups of water every day. Water helps your body in many ways.

    Don't forget to eat your breakfast. Breakfast gives you energy your body needs for the morning.

    Go for a walk every day after meals. Walking is a good exercise, and people need exercise for good health.

    Stretch for five minutes after sitting for one or two hours. Stretching (伸展) your arms and legs is good for your body.

    Have a rest about twenty minutes when you are tired. You may do something different to take a rest.

    For example, get up and walk, sit down to listen to music and so on.
