Two friends are walking in the forest. One is tall, and the other is short. The tall man says to the short man, "We are good friends. If the bear comes, I'll help you." The short man answers, "Of course, we are good friends."

    At this time a bear comes. The tall man quickly climbs up a tree, but the short one can't. He says, "Help me, I can't climb trees." But the tall man says, "No, I can't help you."  The short man have to lies(躺在) on the ground and holds hisbreath(屏住呼吸). The bear smells him and goes away. The tall man comes down and asks," What do the bear say to you?"

    "The bear tells me: A friend in need is a friend indeed.(患难朋友才是真朋友). So you are not my friend. " the short man answers

    Hello, I'm Mike. My family had a good time last Sunday. Let me tell you. I went to the nature park to see wild animals. I took many pictures of them. The animals were so cute. My mother cooked dinner and did the dishes at home. My father read a newspaper. In the evening we ate dinner and watched TV together! That was fun! What about you? What did you do last weekend?

    I'm Bob. I have two little sisters. They're Lily and Lucy. Children's Day is coming. I want to buy some gifts for them. Lily wants a new dress, because her dress is too small. Lucy wants a new doll, because her doll is too old. The dress is sixty yuan, and the doll is forty-five yuan. I'm going to buy them. They must be happy.

    Miss Luo is our English teacher. She is tall and beautiful. Miss Luo has many hobbies. She likes singing very much. She can sing both Chinese and English songs very well. She likes reading too. We often see her at the book shop. She also likes seeing films. She knows a lot about films. She often goes to the cinema with her daughter.

    Miss Luo is good at cooking. Sometimes she invites us to her home. She bakes (烘焙) yummy cakes for us. We all like her cakes.

    Dinah was a kind girl, but she was very lazy. She didn't like to do anything. Her mother wanted her to do some reading, but she didn't want to.

    One day a boy named Joy came and brought a pair of skates (滑冰鞋)with him. Dinah liked the skates very much. She ran after Joy when he walked on the skates. Joy let Dinah put on his skates. The girl was very happy. “Listen, Dinah.” said the young man. "if you start to read, I'll send you a good pair of skates on the first day of January."

    From then on, Dinah did lots of reading. On the first day of New Year, she got a new pair of skates from Joy.
