When I looked through my old photos last Sunday, one photo {#blank#}1{#/blank#} my eyes. In the photo, I was sitting in a chair, hugging Duke, my best friend in the whole world.

    Duke was an interesting name for such a little dog. But he was my friend from the moment I could walk. He stayed with me when I read books. When I went outside playing games, he always drove our cats up to the trees and then walked off feeling proud of himself. When he was hungry he would carry his food dish in his mouth and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} it at my mom's feet. When I was sick, he refused {#blank#}3{#/blank#} my bed until I got better than before.

    Now Duke is gone, I won't see him again. But I {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a lot from Duke, life can be good when you live it with love and joy. In my heart, Duke is like a teacher who has taught me how we can love and how we can {#blank#}5{#/blank#}.

    It was the night before my writing task was due. As I looked at the list of {#blank#}1{#/blank#}, “The Art of Eating Spaghetti”{#blank#}2{#/blank#}caught my eyes. The word “spaghetti” brought back the memory of an evening spent at my uncle Allen's house in Belleville. Before all of us were seated around the table, aunt Pat {#blank#}3{#/blank#}spaghetti for supper. Spaghetti was an exotic(外来的) treat in those days. I had never eaten spaghetti before, and {#blank#}4{#/blank#}of the grown-ups had enough experience to be good at eating it. What{#blank#}5{#/blank#}arguments we had about the polite way for moving spaghetti from plate to mouth! I thought about writing about this for my writing task, {#blank#}6{#/blank#}I wanted to write about it just for my own enjoyment – not for Mr. Fleagle, my writing teacher. For him, I would write something else. When I finished writing that evening, the night was half gone and there was no time left to write another paper for Mr. Fleagle. I ended up {#blank#}7{#/blank#}him my spaghetti paper the next morning. Two days later, Mr. Fleagle read my writing in front of the whole class. The whole class was laughing {#blank#}8{#/blank#}fun. At that moment, I felt so happy, for my words had the power to make people {#blank#}9{#/blank#}It's so simple to share{#blank#}10{#/blank#}.

    There is a park near my house. In the park, there are some bushes(树丛). I{#blank#}1{#/blank#}enjoy doing some reading on the bench (长凳) beside the bushes, but now I always tell myself{#blank#}2{#/blank#}the bushes.

    Last Sunday, I went to read on a bench there. I was{#blank#}3{#/blank#}reading my favorite Sherlock Holmes when I suddenly heard something{#blank#}4{#/blank#}from the bushes. I thought it{#blank#}5{#/blank#}be a cat or something like that and took no notice of it. Suddenly, a yellow four-legged, cat-like animal ran past me. I couldn't help shouting! I{#blank#}6{#/blank#}what it was. And{#blank#}7{#/blank#}as fast as I could.
