    When I was having supper last summer, I saw white cat in the yard. It was so cute that I couldn't help play with it. It was nervous at first, and soon we became good friends.     How is everything going? I would like to express my thanks with your kindness during my stay in London last week. Know that you take a great fancy to Chinese culture, especial the Spring Festival, I would love to introduce it to you. The Spring Festival, one of the most important festival in China, falls on January 1 in the lunar calendar. It has a long history, that was originally celebrated to drive away a monster “Nian”. Different that in the past, it is now given new meanings. On the New Year's Eve, each family have its members gather together. They tell each other their lives in the past year, exchange gifts and to eat delicious meals in the warm of the family. I hope you will come here and experienced this wonderful festival.

    One year ago, I had a special English lesson hold at the railway station. It was quite different from the regular English classes we were familiar to, for we had no textbooks, no blackboard and no fixed seats.

    Gathered at the entrance of the station, we told to collect as many English words and sentence as possible there. Curious and excited, we walked around the station and looked everywhere, search for any information in English. Whenever an English word comes into sight, the class would burst into the cheers as if we had discovered a new world. With the Chinese translation and vividly pictures, we could figure out its meaning with ease.

    Now, this unforgettable lesson still encourages me to be an active learner where I go.

    Three years before, when I began my senior high school study, I found extremely difficult to learn English well. There are so many new words and grammar rules to keep in mind. Hard although I might try, I still did poor in the English exams. It was the hardest time in my life and I nearly lost my heart and decided to give in when my mother found my problem. She said that whether I wanted to meet the shinning sun on the other sides of the difficulties, I should first have the courage to overcome them and then enjoy the joy of success. In order to prove myself, I studied very harder than ever. At the end of the term I got the highest mark in English.
