I'm not much of a crier most of the time. But recently when I was reading a book on a plane, l started crying. Of course, it came as a big surprise when tears came up, no matter how hard I tried, I wasn't able to control myself.

Oh no, not this now, I thought to myself. But even as the thought entered my brain, I felt the first hot drop of salty water coming down my face. I put my head down, hoping that I could go on reading.

In fact, the harder I tried, the more team pushed their way out of my eyes. You could guess how surprised the man next to me looked.

I dropped my head in shame. He must think I was crazy. Maybe I could turn toward him, hold up the cover of the book and say in my crying voice, "Pm sorry, sir. It's just a really good book!" But I didn't say anything. Instead, I just put my head back against the seat and let the team run. Do you know what decision I made while I was crying? My decision was that it was okay if he thought I was crazy. I'd rather be crazy than be the kind of person who wouldn't cry when the situation called for it, or who wouldn't let herself feel anything at all.

I've been that girl who has spent so much time trying to make sure people didn't think 1 was crazy. But now I don't want to be that girl any more--that bored and sad girl.     I have tried to write a ghost(鬼魂) story that won't make you unhappy with yourselves, with each other, with the seasons,or with me.I hope it haunts(飘荡) your houses pleasantly.

By Charles Dickens One Christmas Eve,old Scrooge and Bob were working busily in his office. It was a cold, foggy day.The fog was so thick that the houses opposite were like ghosts. It was only three o'clock in the afternoon, but it was already quite dark.

    "Merry Christmas,Uncle!"cried a happy voice.It was Scrooge's nephew(侄子).

    "Bah!"said Scrooge,"Humbug(骗人的话)!"

"Christmas is a humbug?Surely you don't mean that,Uncle."said his nephew.

    "I do,"said Scrooge."Merry Christmas!What reason have you got to be merry?You're poor."

"OK,then,"replied the nephew cheerfully."What reason have you got to be sad?You are rich.Don't be angry,Uncle!"said his nephew.

"What else can I be?"answered the uncle,"I live in a world of fools!Merry Christmas! What's Christmas time to you? It's a time for paying bills without money?!It's a time for finding yourself a year older, but not richer.

Everyone who goes around saying 'Merry Christmas' should have his tongue cut out.Yes,he should!"

"Uncle! Please don't say that!"said the nephew."I've always thought of Christmas time as a good time,a kind, and a charitable(慈善的)and happy time. And so,Uncle,Christmas has never put any gold or silver in my pocket, but I think it has done me good. And it will do me good.I'm sure."

Bob,standing in the corner of the room, applauded. He realized his mistake very soon, and went quickly back to his work, but Scrooge had heard him.

"One more sound from you,Bob Cratchit,"said Scrooge,"and you'll celebrate Christmas by losing your job!"

"Don't be angry with him,Uncle.Come and have dinner with us tomorrow."said Scrooge's newphew.

    "No."said Scrooge.

I'm sorry you don't want to celebrate Christmas.But I do.So a Merry Christmas,Uncle!"

    "Good afternoon!"said Scrooge.

"And a Happy New Year!"said his nephew.

    "Good afternoon!"said Scrooge again.

His nephew left the room.He stopped to wish Bob a Merry Christmas. And Bob replied,"A  Merry Christmas to you, too."

A 3-year-old boy who was lost in the woods for two days is now safe at home with his family. But Casey Hathaway told his rescuers (救援者) that he was not alone in the rainy, freezing cold woods. He said he was with a friend — a bear.

The child went missing on January 22 while playing with friends near his grandmother's house in North Carolina. When the other children returned but Casey did not, the family searched the area for almost an hour before calling the police.

Police formed a search team to look for the young boy in the nearby woods. But two days went by and—no Casey.

Then on January 24, someone called the police saying he heard a child crying in the woods. Police followed up on the information and found Casey at about 9:30 that night. He was in good health.

Casey told the rescuers he had hung out with a black bear for two days, a bear he called his "friend".

The police officer Chip Hughes spoke with reporters from several news agencies. He said Casey did not say how he could survive in the woods for two days in the cold, rainy weather. "However," the police officer said, "he did say he had a friend in the woods that was a bear with him."

Hundreds of people helped in the search and rescue efforts, including some 600 volunteers, police and members of the army. Doctors at the medical center gave Casey some examination. He was then sent to his family on January 25.

His mother talked with reporters and thanked everyone who joined the search for her son. "We just want to tell everybody that we're very thankful that you took the time out to search for Casey," said his mother. "He is up and talking He's already asked to watch cartoons."
