Live at Leeds Festival, United Kingdom
A weekend of Indie music taking over Leeds for one day in May, Metronomy, Sunara Karma and Tom Grennan will headline, but there's a focus on the city's newer bands, with the festival aiming to bring new artists into the spotlight. Events take place across the city, with wristband giving you access to all the places. And to go to this festival, you need to be over 14 years old.

Almost a hundred miles north of the Arctic Circle, Sodankyla is where Finnish film-director brothers Aki and Mika Kaurismaki rock up every summer for their Midnight Sun Film Festival, a five-day-and-night celebration of new cinema. A mix of silent films, contemporary Finnish ones, recent festival hits and box-office classics are screened around the clock.

FujiRockFestival, Japan
The first ever Fuji Rock Festival was held at the bottom of Mount Fuji back in 1997 and has brought in music and rock fans from all over the world. The festival is now held in the Naeba Ski Resort and is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The artists who perform aren't all rockers. Your wristband has to be checked at the entrance. We offer facilities for children, but they can't be left unaccompanied.

The White Nights Festival is held at the city's famous Mariinsky Theatre and shows some of the world's best opera and ballet. It's the best time to visit St. Petersburg because it's held during the magical summer period when there's almost 24 hours of sunlight a day.

Mr. Harris used to work in Dover, but then he changed his work, so he and his wife moved to another town. They did not have many friends there, but they soon met a lot of interesting people, and after a few weeks, they often went to dinner or to parties at other people's houses. Then Mrs. Harris said to her husband, "We've been to a lot of other people's houses, and now we must invite them to our house, mustn't we?"
"Yes, certainly," answered her husband, "A big party will be the easiest thing, won't it? Then we can start to invite people to dinner in small numbers next month."
So Mrs. Harris said, "Yes, I'll invite all our friends here to a big party on 5th December."
"How many will that be?" Mr. Harris asked. "Don't invite too many."
Mrs. Harris was beginning to write the invitations when her husband saw that she was writing, "Party: 6:30 to 8:30 p. m."
"That isn't very nice, is it?" he said. "You're telling our guests that they must go at 8:30." So Mrs. Harris just wrote "Party: 6:30 p. m."
A lot of guests came, and they all had a good time, but they did not go home at 8:30. In fact they were still there at mid-night when the door bell rang and a policeman arrived. He said, "You must stop making a noise, because someone has complained."
Mr. Harris said he did not want to quarrel with the policeman, so everyone went home. They were sorry to have to go.
When Mr. and Mrs. Harris were alone again, she said to him. "That was a surprise, wasn't it? Who complained about the noise?"
"I did," Mr. Harris answered in a tired voice.
Almost every second of every day an older adult falls in the United States. That's approximately 29 million falls per year and nearly 27, 000 deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Still in the stating stage, the Active Pelvis Orthosis (APO) system in Switzerland wants to make a lightweight, wearable exoskeleton (外骨骼) that could detect signs of balance loss and assist with balance recovery to keep the elderly wearer from falling, only when needed.
Other exoskeletons, either in development or on the market today, assist with movement and make heavy objects feel lighter. Mobility-impaired people can walk again. But none of these devices predict what the wearer is going to do next and take measures to correct an unsteady move.
The 3 kilogram (6. 7 pound) exoskeleton was built entirely from scratch by the research team and is designed to be worn on the lower half of the body. A waistband connects to two movable carbon fiber braces (支架), each one positioned on the outer side of a leg. Tiny motors and so-called "adaptive oscillators" (适配振荡器) in the computer circuits use a special process to detect the wearer's unique paces. That part takes just a few minutes.
While wearing the exoskeleton, a person may feel the braces and the motors pushing slightly on their legs. If their paces go against normal, the motors create a force in the braces that cause them to stiffen up and push a little more strongly against the legs, which provides stability.
In the next three years, the APO hopes to develop something that is commercially available.
If you are a fruit grower—or would like to become one—take advantage of Apple Day to see what's around. It's called Apple Day but in practice it's more like Apple Month. The day itself is on October 21, but since it has caught on, events now spread out over most of October around Britain.
Visiting an apple event is a good chance to see, and even taste, a wide variety of apples. There are also varieties developed to suit specific local conditions. One of the very best varieties for eating quality is Orleans Reinette, but you'll need a warm, sheltered place with perfect soil to grow it, so it's a pipe dream for most apple lovers who fall for it.
At the events, you can meet expert growers and discuss which ones will best suit your conditions, and because these are family affairs, children are well catered for with apple-themed fun and games.
Apple Days are being held at all sorts of places with an interest in fruit, including stately gardens and commercial orchards(果园). If you want to have a real orchard experience, try visiting the National Fruit Collection at Brogdale, near Faversham in Kent.
Last weekend I was lucky enough to attend one of Spain's most famous carnivals in the city of Cádiz. You can only understand what it is like after seeing it for yourself. Everybody was fancy-dressed from top to toe.
Almost instantly after stepping off the train, we were filled with joy. Many people parading through the streets playing traditional music filled people with happiness. As we wandered around and took in the animate atmosphere, the creativity of some costumes was incredible! You could really tell that people put a lot of time and energy into making some amazing costumes.
Then there were the groups dotted around the city. This gave the carnival a pure essence of originality, as they were singing from their heart. Furthermore, the fact that I was not able to understand the inside jokes did not matter, as I was transfixed by the actions and expressions they provided.
As the night progressed, the streets got more packed with people. When we passed a convenience store, we danced along to the music coming through the owner's speakers. It was a marquee(跑马灯) with a DJ set inside, literally like a mini festival. After this wacky weekend of festivity, it is true to say that the Spanish know how to party!

All my life I have been a fighter. My mom told me that when I was born, I was the most beautiful baby in the world. Time passed. The 12th China Arts Festival will bring a series of art (activity) to the Chinese economic and art center, Shanghai. From May 20 to June 2, more than 50 shows (select) nationwide will be performed in nineteen major theaters in Shanghai, and a fine selection of creative cultural products will (show) at the Shanghai Exhibition Center. The festival will include (vary) art forms, such as opera, dancing, painting and photography.
2019 edition is co-organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Shanghai municipal government(市政府). Since (it) beginning in 1987, the festival (change) host cities in each edition, travelling to areas including Beijing, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Hubei over the past three decades.
Sales of tickets have opened online, with tickets priced from no cost 380 yuan, according to the organizers. To allow a larger audience to access the programs, the festival will also be broadcast live online. “We will use new media to bring the shows to more ordinary people, will let them know about the modern development of Chinese arts," said Zhu Di, head of the ministry's arts department.
This year's festival is also aimed at (promote) tourism in Shanghai with arts. The local government has released a total of 40 culture-themed travel routes to guide visitors through Shanghai's well-known landmarks.
