One day, I had a bad toothache. I couldn't eat anything. So I went to see the dentist.
"What's wrong with your teeth?" asked the dentist.
"I have a toothache." I told him.
"Let me see your teeth… Um, there's a hole in one of the teeth. Do you eat a lot of sweet food?" the dentist asked me.
"Yes, I do. I often eat ice cream, biscuits, chocolates and I often drink colas and milk with sugar." I told him.
"All these are bad for your teeth. You must eat less sweet food and brush your teeth at least twice every day. Now let me fill your tooth." Said the doctor.

An exhausted (筋疲力尽的)looking woman came into the doctor's office. She said, "Doctor, there are a lot of dogs all over my neighborhood. They bark ( 犬吠) all day and all night, and I can't get a good sleep."
"I have good news for you," the doctor said, taking out a small bottle. "Here are some new sleeping pills (安眠药) that work like a dream. A few of these and your trouble will be over."
"Great, thank you." the woman was very glad to go back home with the pills.
A few weeks later, the woman came again, looked worse than ever. She said, "Doctor, your pills are not good at all. I'm more fired than before."
"I don't understand how that could be," said the doctor, shaking his head, "Those are the strongest pills on the market."
"That may be true," answered the woman, "but I'm still up all night running after those dogs and when I finally catch one, it's hard to get him to eat the pills."
If you eat junk food(垃圾食品), you can't really expect to grow up strong and healthy. But if you eat healthy food, you may do so. So how can we know which food is healthy? Unluckily, a lot of food looks good, but it isn't really good, because it contains things that are bad for both your health and the environment. Where are the things from? This is all to do with how people produce food: growing it on the farm, processing(加工) it in factories, storing it and making it ready for you to eat.
Here's what happens:
Most farmers use chemicals(化学品) to stop their crops from getting sick. Many of these chemicals are kept in the food you eat. Some people believe that this may make people get illnesses. The chemicals may also pollute water and air, and kill lots of animals.
Waste from farm animals brings a lot of pollution. Some of the waste gets into the water.
Planes used by people to move food and drinks around also pollute the air.
Most things that you drink, like cola, taste good, but something in them, including sugar, may be bad for your health. Sugary drinks make you fat and are bad for your teeth.
What you can do:
If you can, try and get organic(有机的) food. Organic food doesn't harm the environment. Animals kept on organic farms are treated(对待) more kindly than the ones on factory farms.
Eat fresh food whenever you can and cook at home. Don't eat out too much. Cooking can be fun!

Mr. Jones argued (争论) with his wife. He was very angry with his wife, and Mrs. Jones was angry with her husband (丈夫). For a few days they didn't talk to each other.

On it were the words, "Please wake me up at 7 a.m. Jones." When Mr. Jones (wake) up in the morning, it was nearly 9 a.m. and on the table near his bed, he also found a piece of paper. It wrote, "Please wake up, it is 7 a.m.'" He was angry to say a word.
Most of us probably don't like doing housework. And most of us think that (clean) the bathroom or cooking dinner for the family makes us tired. However, the fact is that someone has to do it. Most of the time, our parents have to do the housework. Is it (real) fair?
Doing housework is really not as bad as it sounds. If we all do our part, it (seem) less annoying ( 烦人的). Why should your mother have to wash your dirty clothes? You are able to take care of yourself. Doing some housework will show that you are becoming more and more independent.
Some of us may think that we are so busy that we can't do housework. But most parents work all day and are then expected(keep) a clean house! Dividing housework among the whole family will make everyone's job much (easy).

Each nation has many good people who help to take care of others. For example, some high school and college students in the United States often many hours as volunteers in hospitals, orphanages (孤儿院)or community( 社区)homes for people. They read books to the people in these places, or they just visit them and play games with them or listen to their.
Other young volunteers go and work the homes of people who are sick. They paint, up or repair their houses, do their shopping or mow (修剪) their lawns (草坪) . For boys who have lost their fathers, there is an organization Big Brothers. College students and other men take these boys to baseball games or on fishing tips and help them to get to know things that boys usually from their fathers.
Not only adults(成年人) but also teenagers have problems in their life. Here is a survey showing the main problems of teenagers.
They feel stressed because they have too much homework to do both at school and at home. They have a lot of exams to take. And parents usually send them to different classes at weekends. They don't have their own time to do what they are interested in.
Now more and more teenagers are getting short-sighted. They often read in bed or keep reading for a long time without having a rest. Some are crazy about playing computer games. Some spend too much time (watch) TV. Another serious problem among teenagers is that many of them are becoming fat. They eat too much junk food and take little exercise.
I think teenagers should think of ways to deal with (处理) the problems. They should make a plan for study and hobbies and find time to relax as much as possible.
